About twenty years ago Yale became known as the “Gay Ivy”. Now they Stalinize Calhoun College and rename is after a REAR Admiral Gracy Hopper. They are all a bunch of REARS.
I’ve always hated John Calhoun. Not only was he a hardcore slavery advocate and secessionist, he was a leading Democrat. His type is one of the main reasons the Civil War happened instead of a legislative elimination of slavery.
The majority of our founders, who were slave owners, were born into families that had owned slaves for at least a generation or perhaps two before these men were born. Many of these men wanted to end slavery, yet knew there were opponents who did not and these opponents would not support independence from Britain, so they compromised and left it to the next generation to decide whether or not to fight a war to end slavery. White men ended slavery in the USA, give them the credit. Muslims still practice the slave trade today, give them the guilt and accusations.
Why not name the dorm after Jim Calhoun, the former UConn basketball coach. Money would be saved...
Wilberforce U. in Ohio is a HBCU...I wonder if the students know that. I bet they would demand it to be renamed to BOU...
Many prominent Southerners were Ivy League grads. The University of Georgia was founded by a group of Yale graduates..
