Sorry, I should have said how can any sane person speak of Islam and liberty, positively, in the same sentence?

Lie and lie and lie to fit the narrative. One statue was not repurposed into another. Design 1 falls thru for client X. Design 2 is commissioned for client Y. The two have nothing to do with each other other than that the artist was into big-assed statues (not to be confused with statues with generous sized asses).
The Statue of Liberty is modeled after the Roman goddess Libertas (surprise, surprise); not some peasant.

Next, there will be a Muslim sympathizer who says a Muslim woman was the model for Minnie Mouse.

Uh, no it’s not.
As an illustrious former Secretary of State and twice-baked presidential candidate once said...”What difference, at this point, does it make?”

The statue is not the point. It’s the statement “yearning to be free”. It doesn’t say “and those who hate us and want to cut off our heads and force all to be Muslims”.

Geez. The statue’s face was modeled after that of the sculptor’s (Fredric August Bartholdi) mother. Like him, she was French, and not a Muslim.
Just another case of revisionists trying to say something loud and long enough for it to become the truth.

Nope. Greek goddess Hera is main model. Face possibly of Bartholdi's mother or wife. No way a Muslim woman would have been a statue especially back then.

So they are trying to say that an Islamic Egypt was planning to allow a statue of a person, forbidden under Islamic faith, to be placed in front of one of the most incredible engineering feats of the earth? I doubt it.

If she was supposed to be Muslim, the statue would be called 'Terrorists terrorizing the World', the chain would be connected to her feet, the flame would be a sword, the tablet would be a bomb, she would be in a burka and a male would be in front of her.
So in my opinion, she isn't....

I had always read the model for Liberty was Bartholdi`s mother.
