I don’t get how a guy who held out and refused early release as a POW could have turned into such a sell out.

Maybe he was a little worried because he knew he was going to be court marshaled if he returned early for being a COLLABORATOR and propaganda tool for the enemy. He made 32 Propaganda tapes, not to mention that he is thought to have shared classified information that resulted in increased casualties rates among his fellow naval aviators almost immediately after his capture. He was known to be a problem child and a jerk both before and after his capture. Maybe, just maybe he was never the man you thought that he was.

There is nothing controversial about Mr. Gorsuch. There is everything controversial about Democrats.

Quite: “Maybe he was never the man you thought he was”

Or maybe he was and remains the man he always was.

Exactly. By “controversial” in this context, I meant only “something the liberals oppose.”

How about...

NO.

Confirm him on 51 votes. And we have Pence for a tiebreaker.

Remember that before the election, when Harry Reid assumed Hillary would win and thought that the Democrats would have a majority in the Senate, he was saying they would get rid of the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees if necessary to get her nominees confirmed.

I’m in favor of letting the Dems filibuster for a long long time. Their brand will self-destruct if they keep it up for weeks or months.

People in states that voted for Trump and have Dem Senators will start to look at impeachment laws in their states.

He’s got a couple on his list. I vote for Diane Sykes.

Yeah, she’s the one name I recognized. I believe she was on his original list and has been brought up fairly regularly. I want the most conservative one they can find and verify. Maybe that is Sykes.

amazing how the filibuster, which used to be rare and newsworthy (not to mention demanding on the speaker), has morphed into anything “controversial” needs to have 60 votes.

That's because they don't actually filibuster any more. Somebody threatens to filibuster, and the "leadership" tables the bill. I believe Ted Cruz carried out the latest actual filibuster (against funding 0bamacare), and the leftist uniparty (including turtle-face Bitch McConnell) castigated him for it. Anybody who wants to filibuster should be forced to actually do it.

Never confuse "Military Officer Smith" with "Politician Smith" They may inhabit the same body, but they're often far from being the same person. I will cast no aspersions on Captain John McCain, USN. Senator John McCain is a thorough scumbag.

That is exactly right The Senate is supposed to be this great place of history but their current practice in this regard is ridiculously unhistorical

McConnel will “go nuclear” or lose his Majority Leader status.

If McConnell changes the rules to allow for a simple majority to proceed to confirmation, he will only be following the precedent that Schumer, Reid, and every single Democrat in the Senate set first.

That's not going to happen, and the Dims know it. From Jan 17th RedState article: Mitch McConnell: Nuclear Option Is Actually Not An Option

"McConnell has argued throughout his Senate career that the chamber’s rules can only be modified with a two-thirds vote, a striking contrast from his predecessor, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who triggered the nuclear-option in 2013 to shield executive branch and most judicial nominees from filibusters.

“It takes 67 votes to change the rules in the Senate. We saw one rather conspicuous exception to that a few years ago but no we don’t have any current plans on the rules,” he said."

McConnell certainly won't use the nuclear option to confirm Neil Gorsuch before President Trump's Executive Order for a temporary travel ban is fast-tracked to the Supreme Court.

Unless the liberals can deliver first strike “smart” emp pulses from their geopositoined satellites that only affects conservatives (think about it...)

Yes, actuarially about the equivalent to a 53yo man, but still not as good as, say, a woman 8-10 years younger.
