Seems to me that the shootee knows that the shooter will not face prosecution, and he wants to make it seem like he influenced that decision. My guess is that the shootee has been told that law enforcement has determined the shooting to be self-defense. This theory says that since the shootee would be considered the aggressor if the case is determined to be self-defense, the shootee needs to appear as magnanimous as he can right now.

Has anyone seen confirmation of that? The only statement I've seen that was attibuted to the shooter was that he believed the person he shot was "some sort of white supremacist."
