I have a new neighbor; the young girl [a 10y/o] was bit by a dog; it removed a portion of her lip and nose; she has had 4 plastic surgeries; docs have done what they could for now, and she faces more repairs when she is in her late teens.

Needless to say, she was terrified of dogs. My son invited her over one day, to sit on the porch and gradually taught her how to play fetch with our goofy ole Lab. Eventually she came around, and has lost a lot of her fear of dogs. She'll probably always be wary.

The unfortunate prop WH dogs may be out of their routine with the Obamas getting ready to vacate, that would make a dog more irritable with people he doesn’t know.
There’s a chance the dog was already on edge and shouldn’t have been exposed to visitors.

A family that owns a dog assumes strict liability for the behavior of the dog. In other words, they are ultimately responsible for the behavior of the dog.

The Obama's are responsible for any and all medical costs associated with the dog bite.
