Using only total popular vote to decide is much more likely
to yield a fraudulent or stolen result.

Hillary won the nationwide popular vote by approximately 2.7 million votes. Looking
at just one county, Los Angeles County, CA in which she won by approximately 1.3 million
votes. So as you pointed out the focus would shift to the large population centers.

I honestly doubt a dem has won a legit election for half a century now.

If memory serves me (and sometimes it doesn't) Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania just went through some judicial wrestling matches over voter ID laws and this was the first general election where the laws were in place. Maybe these states were never "Blue" to begin with.

If you take California out of the mix (with all it’s fraudulent votes) Trump won the popular vote. Hillary’s “popular vote win” was ALL due to California where Trump never bothered to campaign.

Trump ran for the Electoral vote. Mrs Bill ran for the popular vote in the smug certainty that all the states that voted for Hussein would vote for her no matter what. If it were a strictly popular vote election Trump would have campaigned differently and Mrs Bill would not be at all assured of winning.
