A different topic, but I really think a project needs to be undertaken to gather all IRS and SS employment/disability data and jury duty data and voter registration data and cross check it.
Look for the same SS# being used at multiple home or employment addresses — especially if the addresses are more than 20 miles apart they are likely not a single person holding down two jobs. Then have ICE or FBI or IRS agents show up at both places of employment with no advance warning and determine which is the real person and which is the ID thief. All that happens ow when the IRS flags a mismatch between SS# and name is that they reject it and an employer’s HR department fires the illegal alien. No law enforcement followup.
I think ID theft needs to be given a much higher priority because it is an enabler for all sorts of criminality. The same principle as Giuliani’s “broken windows” policy of law enforcement that was so effective when he was mayor.
I had a janitor (probably also illegal alien) steal a blank check from my desk drawer at work and write himself a $300 check. The police caught him but let him go after he “made restitution” to my bank. I thought it was outrageous at the time for the same reasons as above.
