On the Waterfront is a lot more than a boxing/romance movie. It was made in the time of the HUAC hearings, when naming names about who was fellow-traveling with the Soviets could get you blacklisted in Hollywood. The movie is about the courage it takes to speak up about evil people who like to work in secret and terrorize others to keep it that way. Elia Kazan’s career suffered from his decision to make this movie. Rocky is OK, but took no special moral courage to produce.
I don’t know about him being a devout Christian.
A few years back, he was becoming more spiritually minded, regarding his Catholic roots.
Anyway, I have no problem with the NEA (I love the arts) as long as it’s not being used to bash Christ and/or Christianity.
And I don’t mind having Sylvester Stallone being over the NEA, because I consider myself a fan.

Yes, the agenda should be to hire someone who’s goal is the elimination of his agency and his job. Not easy to find those folks but that is EXACTLY what is needed. Maybe Stallone could be that guy in the NEA. I hope so
You’ve heard of this thing called “politics”, right ? Putting a Hollywood star in charge of NEA would be a sop to them but it is a position where his gun control idiocy wouldn’t come into play. It’s not like a position in Justice or DHS or FBI or ATF.
