The “October Surprise” was so similar to the “Russian hacking” fake news that it’s been on my mind.

Cronkite’s “We loss the Tet offensive” fake news should be on here.

During or shortly after the Three Mile Island incident, one of the networks (I'm inclined to say ABC) ran a story about a nuclear accident at a reactor in Europe. The story included a fuzzy still picture of a tower that looked like a reactor cooling tower, belching a huge cloud of gas into the atmosphere. The narrative was that the unspecified accident caused the release of highly radioactive steam into the surrounding area.

The photo was later proven to be a cement plan in Italy, and the radioactive steam was nothing more than cement dust.

The Koran flushing lie that had “real world consequences” that got people killed in riots and without a doubt caused more US service members to be killed or injured.

But hey, they apologized, so no harm, no foul, right?
