And that’s just what they could prove given the presumption that things like the F-35 and LCS were justified expenditures.

When the confirmation of Mattis as SecDef is announced, somebody said that people expect him to get tough against America’s enemies, but he should fight just as hard against Pentagon waste. Apparently, there is a huge amount of waste in Pentagon spending.

That’s enough to put 20 Arleigh Burke DDGs to sea with a full load.

This waste must stop. Here. Now.

"The Day Before 9/11 Rumsfeld Admits Pentagon Missing Astounding $2.3 Trillion[youtube]"

So glad you mentioned this!

The Swamp was/is created by both parties. It's time to rid OUR gov't. of incompetent managers no matter which side of the aisle they pretend to represent.

It's OUR money they're "losing" or otherwise wasting and they do so, over and over again, with impunity.

Gov't. officials should be fired if they can't do their jobs and tried if they're so grossly incompetent/corrupt that their malfeasance costs US billions of OUR dollars.

as long as govt employees have an open checking account and traitorous ex military shilling for the defense contractors, this will never stop....

our military, all of it, is a bottomless black hole with every little to show for it....

we used to be the top military in the world....with all the fruits and nuts running the show now, we're not even close.

The way I read that is that the $2.3tr disappeared during the Clinton admin.

Seems audits conducted after Bush took office revealed the missing money and Rummy announced it about 7 1/2 months into the Bush admin.

If Trump really wanted to make an impact on spending and the future of the country he would get rid of BASELINE BUDGETING begun with trhe Congressional Budget Act of 1974.

The whole mess is flawed and encourages massive waste, fraud and abuse. It is the basis for spend it or lose it end of year spending binges by every agency and the military. Just las week I saw lines of 70 inch top of the line flat panel TVs lining the squadron halls bought to spend up budget. Things like this happen every year. Where else do you think the piles of brand new surplus stuff come from?

Read about this insult to drunken sailors here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseline_(budgeting)

“In 1987, however, the Congress amended the definition of the baseline so that discretionary appropriations would be adjusted to keep pace with inflation. Other technical changes, annual increase of now approximately 3% plus inflation, to the definition of the baseline were enacted in 1990, 1993, and 1997. Presently, the [automatic annual] Baseline Budgeting increase is about 7%.”

This doubles the national budget about every 10 years. The feral gubment says there is no inflation but in this 7% there is 4% inflation for their spending. What the hell?

Is your income or spending doubling every 10 years? Mine sure as hell is not and has not ever for the last 40 years.

it is sickening. Trump could hit a home run if he would tackle this fraud and theft from the taxpayers.

We need ZERO based budgeting so that every year budgets would have to be examined and justified. Mine has to be. How about yours?

Not just the feral gubment, state and local as well.

Just finished a cross country trip noting that many state highway departments have the very finest of equipment that can be bought and it is often very new.

Most contractors get along fine with stuff that is very used.

Mabus is an idiot and wears a dress at night. This man has gone along with every Obama regime half-cocked idea to PC the Navy and destroy its moral and fighting effectiveness.

He is Red China’s best friend, intentionally or by accident.

Congress is in charge of military spending. The GOP held the reigns under most of the Clinton regime. Both parties have failed to have any accountability when it comes to spending.

>Trump is elected, and SHAZAM!! government waste is discovered!

‘Discovered’? There’s been numerous govt reports, recommendations and more so from the PRIVATE sector re: waste, abuse, fraud, duplicity, graft, etc.

Each one shelved by our *illustrious* ‘leaders’ (bastions of Conservatism, so they say every election cycle).

What’s DT going to do, aside from call them out on the shelving? No line-item veto and he *must* faithfully execute...

That is a great find on Thornberry. I’m sure it was written for him by Jon Bolton. I read he voted for hillary. He was violent in his opposition to our nominee even when more became pragmatic. He is not representing his constituents. He is representing the “globalists” and himself. How do you spend $1.5 million in an uncontested campaign? But thanks for your work.
