Based on the election-results data on the CNN website, take away the New York City vote, and Trump would have carried New York State by some 5,500 votes, and that margin (slim as it may be) takes into account Clinton’s victories in other big cities such as Buffalo and Rochester. In fact, 51% of the votes Clinton received in New York State came from New York City only.

It goes to show you how badly the Democrats have to rely on big cities in order to win a state.
