“...also some people believe the mass amnesty of 1986 was also a factor as well in opening the floodgates so to speak correct me if I am wrong.”

Thanks. I’m speculating here, but I think the 1986 amnesty showed that if you can make it across the border, plant roots here, and be patient, there is a good chance you can become legal and never have to look over your shoulder. Made the decisions down there much easier for people who were trading off the pro’s and con’s of pulling up their roots (not an easy decision, for anyone).

And, in fact, that is one of my concerns with Trump (or any Republican) is that they will secure the border, get the bad guys out, but then legalize and eventually naturalize the rest...thereby creating millions of new voters. My concern isn’t is tempered though, because of the Sessions pick - Sessions is the Number 1 hawk on border security and immigration, and if the eventual legalization is done properly, a lot of those new citizens may well give Trump and the Republicans credit, and vote that way...maybe. That part depends on just who we legalize and how we go about naturalizing them (i.e., making them REALLY learn English, for example), and sending back as many as possible that come from Central America.

One of the dirty little secrets is that poll after poll of Hispanics that voted in 2014, in the US South, voted 40-45% Republican...with numbers that high, they’re practically useless to the Democrats. The Hispanics in NY and California, however, are radicalized, and vote 80% Democrat...but then that doesn’t help at the presidential level, and California is so far gone that they’re not even tipping the balance there.

How can I get a direct link to Clinton’s statements about illegal immigration?

Hillary had a similar position when she was still a senator:

“Hillary Clinton says US need to secure borders, and illegals should be deported and build a wall”

Interesting, but this is my opinion for I think the folks on the right made a big mistake when they did the amnesty in 86 and looked the other way in the 2000’s on Illegal’s coming in for the sake of big business and cheap labor companies also might as well throw in H1B as well, it was a mistake and a big one all because some damn idiots in both parties got greedy.
