The ObamaCare “tax” has to be one of the biggest disincentives to work if you can’t get good benefits (often available only to government workers at this point); while Nancy Pelosi touted this law because “people shouldn’t be tied to their jobs because of health insurance”, that is exactly what happened. Those that still have employment-based health insurance that at the very least spares them from being required to use ObamaCare have to hold onto those jobs forever, while fewer and fewer jobs will provide such coverage here in NJ - we’ve become a McJob economy.
Since we moved out of crime plagued Memphis into the next county, we’ve seen our property tax half along with car ins, and our schools are representative of the population of our city. Not 85% black, 10% Latino and 5% poor white that is Memphis schools. Each school year there are long over night camp out by parents seeking to get their child into a better school.
My step daughter went to private school all but her senior year of HS. The private school had to be closed because of funding. She still went to one of the better schools, as her father was a Jr. College Prof and had the pull to get her into a better school. Now that same school 25 yrs later is a cesspit.
Here in NJ many of our privates schools are closing because each homeowner pays about $7,500+ just in school taxes - and many of the students are trafficked Third Worlders/anchor babies. Remember the criticism/uproar over the cartoon “Thanks to the president’s immigration order, we’ll be having extra guests this Thansgiving” (where Mexicans were climbing into the dining room)? It was very accurate on a few counts: We do feed them (and clothe, house, and school them), and none were bringing anything for the dinner - they were empty-handed. They are everywhere, and they are voting.
That is the beauty of being in an State Income Tax free state, sales tax, and those fees and business taxes and a balanced budget take care of it all. Since it’s in the TN State Constitution the libs can’t change it. LOL.
Property taxes are in proportion to what part of state or county you live. Ours were $2600 in Memphis, $1200 in Atoka, TN.
