I know...I know...I keep it in mind every time I enter these threads.
I know a lot of people are well meaning, and have concerns (valid ones, often) but all to often I read these and it reminds me of Charles Lindbergh, who was no mental midget, who got completely hoodwinked by the Nazis who took him on a tour of their airfields and air forces prior to the outbreak of WWII.
Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think, he wasn’t “pro-Nazi”, but he saw their forces (which they inflated, by flying planes from one field he visited to the next he was to tour, so to him, being as well acquainted with the dilapidated state of our own air forces, was moved to tell people there was no way we should ever go to war with Germany, as their overwhelming power would be sure to defeat us.
He simply fell for it.
I feel the same way about much of this propaganda. There are a lot of people who see it and think we have no chance. I am not one of them.

4 years surface warfare. I’ve attended ASW school, surface warfare school and other sonar related classes. How about you?

IMO Nukes will never be used in warfare again. But if there is a general nuclear war the navy, the army and the air force ALL become obsolete.
PS I was also the "special" weapons officer.

Maybe because I don’t have Navy blinders on like you do. You see the Navy as a hammer and all warfare as a nail.
There isn’t enough munitions on board all Navy vessels to make any difference to a global war. Those steam boats are for third-world engagements that we really shouldn’t even be engaged in fighting.
The Navy has kept their WWII goggles on and it is costing we taxpayers far too much.

I still believe that despite all the latest and greatest technology floating around out there, there is still a simple thing that can sink any ship. This thread is beginning to verge upon it. Our parents knew all about it.
