Islam is a political system that requires strongman leadership. It is a totalitarian system. Totalitarian political systems necessarily limit opportunity to those with access to power and limit opportunity to those in opposition to those in power.

It would be very easy to discount that statement by the director by quoting many passages in the Koran. The director is not a fool and most educated. He knows those passages of violence better than I.
