I've been thinking about this "teasers" angle a bit and think I may have a somewhat plausible theory about it. Perhaps Assange has heard that the some members of the House or Senate may want to see the documents before they're made public as part of an investigation they can wrap up before the stuff in in the Public Domain.
If so, he could be angling to have the US guarantee him safe passage to the US and agree to not turn him over for the bogus charge he's hiding from.
Just a thought since "teasers" seem a bit unusual compared to the usual Wikileaks approach.
