Precisely. It was a trial balloon.

Balloons from the ATF usually go over like lead balloons.

“This appears to have been an oversight on the part of the ATF; someone likely made a mistake, not knowing the consequences of their actions. “

Not an effing chance! They got “outed” before the fact and had to reverse course. I just hope President Trump will put dog collars on everyone at BATFE, and find a jail cell for Jeh Johnson.

I would love to see Trump make into effect like in Switzerland, all qualified homes must have a battle ready rifle.

“fire every single Clinton era holdover.”

I think that goes without saying! But the real problem continues to be the “worker bees” in all governmental agencies. They change things at the top, but the “implemeters” don’t go when administrations change. And with Government employment rules and the unions, it’s almost impossible to get rid of enough of them to really change direction. Just take a look at the USPS. A decade or more ago, there were nearly 1 million postal workers. Now there are something like 400,000, but with the drop in the use of the mail, they only really need something on the order of 250,000. And the “career” people at the State Department never change so our making real changes to our foreign policy is nearly impossible. Trump has a mammoth task ahead.

Brent sent out an irate email announcing the original ATF change, followed by a more mellow msg of their retraction a day or so later.

He doesn’t make a habit of blowing up my inbox, so needless to say, he got my attention.

“Mistake my ass.”

You are so right. This has been their plan all along, relentless incrementalism. We must man the walls and always be on guard for the next chickenshit attack on the second amendment.

“Accordingly, ATF has and will conduct further industry outreach concerning wetted Nitrocellulose. In the interim, previously authorized industry practices concerning wetted Nitrocellulose will not be affected.”

So “we got caught trying to fix a non-problem for which there are no “demonstrated” issues, and as a consequence, we’re going back underground to work on the next assault on the Second Amendment rights of the good citizens of this country.
Which hopefully will end on January 20, 2017 when a number of us will be shown the unemployment line by representatives of our new “boss” Donald J. Trump.”
