If you are out of work more than a year, you aren’t counted as “unemployed”. So the unemployment figures are phony.
You are assumed to be no longer looking for work, because a statistician has declared it so.
And now they are asking, what has changed that so many people are “no longer looking for work”. As if its a mystery.
Lots of sweeping conclusions in the article and not much support. I'd bet this trend has been going on at least 30 years and has built up gradually as more and more manufacturing jobs that provided a middle class living were moved out of the US, or simply lost to cheap imports as tariffs were reduced or eliminated.
Not buying the author's "not for lack of jobs" claim. There probably are unfilled jobs in some limited areas, but nothing remotely approaching the drop of several million in the workforce participation rate.
Not to worry, when Hillary gets us into WWIII, that problem will be taken care of.

It was the Lesbian feminists like Hillary who applaude this. Take away a man’s self worth and he will give up his status and also give up looking for a mate. This is Provides women for Lesbians to entice as their own mates along with more status and power. Usher in gay marriage and you have a recipe for replacing the male completely. Oh, and as far as children, there’s always adoption, one night stands or the sperm bank.
The answer is simple...end all welfare. Hunger has a way of motivating people to work.
Men are disinclined to work hard if they can’t secure a wife and family. It’s a common way civilizations die.
This is what welfare and other handouts cause. It is extremely common to run into these loser, uneducated, welfare bum males. And I fully resent funding their lifestyle of playing games all day, which I would love to do myself if I was immoral enough to leech off others like they do. The welfare state has to be cut off. Or try some simple, common-sense reforms like requiring anyone collecting to do community service time.
I blew the whistle on the trashing of men, especially white men, back in the 90s. I was scoffed at and ridiculed, but I was right.

Why should anyone feel he has to work? It is perfectly okay to pursue other vocations like art and music and TV watching. After all the government is there to support him so you can indulge his higher self.
