I have worn gloves, because I practice at the range with both. But I also HAVE to practice bare handed, and prepare for operation with a bare hand because .. well.. it’s a pistol.
I’m going to make a video later on and post it up on the blog section or something. Maybe post it inline here.
I have a technique that I have developed and shared with people over the years to address this. As a pianist and computer-based professional my hands aren’t quite a lumberjack’s hands.
What I’ve discovered are ways to keep the fleshy bits of your fingers from rolling over the boney bits of your fingers. It’s lead to far less pain and more far more control of a semi automatic pistol.
I utilize a finger positioning that can (can, not will) double the amount of surface area your thumb and index touch as well as a wrist action that will enable even the least muscle-bound to actuate the slide. It also helps control the ejection operation and can allow a novice to remove a single round from the chamber and into your hand.
At the range I perfected this method to purposefully stovepipe pistols for RSO inspection.
I’ve seen people with delicate hands use their clothing to ‘wrap’ the slide before racking. I’m not a proponent of this primarily because of the potential for a unintentional firing unless it is done with great care.
“clothing to wrap the slide before racking. “
Oh god I would forever ban such a practice. Tell them it’s like f*cking with a hole in a sheet. That’ll stop em flat.
I’m still wrapping stuff up here, but I plan on sitting in front of the camera and beginning. I’ve been planning on putting some gun thoughts down in a youtube channel anyway.
Now - to pick a name for such a channel... Believe it or not I’ve been stuck on that single challenge for a year.
“Racking your slide” name the weapon
I don’t quite follow you...
Name the Channel “Racking your pistol slide”, then name what pistol(s) it applies to.
Videos are up.
I didn’t do ANY editing on them. I just tossed them together. I think I’ll do more youtube stuff.

Very good. I’m sure they will help a few folks.
for later view
