In California they can ticket you if you cross between 2 intersections with a traffic control device. It is the same as a moving violation ie: a point on your license. Big jump in insurance rates. Your lucky you probably had no Cali DL. My daughter lives in LA. She was visiting the Buffalo area for a funeral and we went for a walk and cut across the street right in front of the police station.
She said, "You're jaywalking in front of the POLICE STATION!?!?!?!?!"
My sister and I cracked up.

The Urinal tends to play up the “everything in Ithaca is wonderful” angle, probably because big Daddy Cornell doesn’t want to scare away prospective students.
