Of course they can. Get off your fat, lazy, Mammon-worshipping asses and elect a pro-2nd amendment, Constitutional sheriff in your county. Organize a 2,000 man armed auxiliary deputy battalion for “emergencies.” Christians won’t have any trouble being a pharmacist.
In communist Russia they had arbitrary law (the law is whatever we say it is today). It’s like that now here.
I don’t think it is quite that dire. It really is a different ballgame when you have a “trade-skill” job though. You are trained to do something even when you may have a belief that is polar opposite. Lawyers have to defend people they absolutely know are deceitful. Doctors have to operate and save some drunk who killed a whole family. Cops have to allow the KKK and Westboro Baptist Church to march and state nasty things.
It’s their job. They went into it knowing there are things they will have to tolerate even if they do not believe in it. If they state they had no idea, they are either liars or very stupid. If they don’t like working in the public arena, they need to look into bookkeeping or factory work. Something that keeps them away from other people that they don’t care for because they are different or have a different bellies system.
