Reminds me that there was a time when comedy was not focused on sex, and was not so overtly political and liberal.
I swear, all these people nowadays tell jokes about sex, and push liberalism. You have to be liberal to think the jokes are funny. And you have to tolerate jokes about sex.
Anyway, happy birthday Mel. You came along in a different era, a different time.

His son wrote the awesome novel World War Z which was turned into sub par vehicle for Brad Pitt.

Happy birthday, Mel. Thanks a bunch for all of the laughs.
I still go around saying, “It’s good to be the King” when I see something particularly luxurious or expensive. Also, if I see American Indians on some show, I almost expect them to break out in Yiddish. Finally, every time we have baked beans, I cannot help but think of that scene in “Blazing Saddles.”
Thank you, G-d, for having given us Melvin James Kaminsky, to make us enjoy life and laugh at even the worst of times.

Mel Brooks is a WW II vet, and he saw action at the Battle of the Bulge. When asked about that battle, Mel said that it was really noisy and he could hardly get any reading done.
Gotta love Mel!

A great audio post from Mike Rowe about Mel’s days in the army.
Side note: It’s a shame movies like Blazing Saddles or History of the World Part 1 probably could not be made in today’s “polite” society.
