They don’t like the First Amendment any more than they like the Second Amendment.
Except when the former protects homosexuality and abortion-on-demand, global warming screeds, and Marxist economics and economists.
If this is true, Trump had better play it up big time.
I know you intend that as sarcasm, but it's scarily close to the truth.
Always always always follow the money gravy train.
Exposing the MMGW fraud will lead down so many paths, expose so many organizations and high profile individuals, and show the huge cost of this fraud to citizens. It’s mammoth. It’s the fraud of the century.
We would need to build a new prison just for MMGW fraudsters.
As a complete and total fraud, it is only surpassed by the fraud which fathered it, the fraud known colloquially as "Marxism"...

Yeah. Sounds like a new Inquisition.
Something like this global warming tyranny can be found in the United Nations Agenda 21.....it is these extremist who would deny the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint...part of the United States Constitution. Oh wait....they don't believe in that either.
Global Warming, an extrapolation from incomplete data.....the earth warms and cools and has for eons....controlling the people is the prime reason for GW/CC.....the 2016 presidential election is about our Constitution/Sovereignty and protection from just such tyranny as global warming.
Also, I probably have to spell this out — when I refer to nonbelievers I am referring to people who don't believe in the religion of environmentalism. Yes, environmentalism has many characteristics of a religion with Gaia as its god.
Also, my ox is not being gored. I am neither an environmentalist nor am I a member of “the Church.” Apparently, you have a dog in the race, or an ox to gore judging by your reaction. Not me.
Anyway, there are clear parallels between the Spanish Inquisition and the current effort to prosecute and punish anyone who disagrees with AGW. And in both examples, evil men exploited (or are exploiting) a situation for their own gains.
I know it was. The problem is that you, and others who use this comparison, make a false "thread of truth" because you don't understand the history you're lampooning.
The Inquisition was about reestablishing Christian rule after centuries of Muslim rule. It was intended to find those in government who only pretended to be Christian in their efforts to subvert the Crown.
Your comparison fails because it is reversed. In the AGW argument, it would be the subversives who are on a witch hunt seeking out the Christians who seek rein in their lies. A more apt comparison would have the pretended Christians in government seeking to outlaw Christian doctrine.
It matters because language matters. When you accept the premise of the argument (in this case it would be that the Church did an evil thing because the Inquisition was evil), you validate the truth of the argument. In your comparison, your premise was wrong and I called you on it. It's nothing personal, I'm just tired of the ongoing attacks (subtle or otherwise) on the Church, in particular, and Christianity, in general, especially on a conservative forum.
Global Warming on Free Republic here, here and here
I do absolutely understand and I see it very clearly.
Men are corruptible and the Church was corrupted by evil men. And to deny whenever someone or something is wrong, is wrong. In addition, it removes all credibility and legitimacy when someone attempts to defend the indefensible. Worst of all: without scrutiny and introspection, evil will continue.
I don’t pretend to know what God might think but it has to bother Him (IMHO). Because people are extremely vulnerable through their faith and for someone to exploit that vulnerability (knowingly or unknowingly) is evil of the worst kind. It is a direct sin against God (IMHO). There is probably a special place in He!! for those people.
Bottom line: whenever I am asked why I can continue to be a Christian when so many so called Christians a bad — my response is: “it is not the messenger that is important, but the message.” The messenger is a flawed human being who will eventually succumb to evil but the message is perfect and perfection.
This is why I avoid all organized religions and seek the Truth on my own.
