I had a friend who was a Marine on Guadalcanal. They still had the '03 Springfields, hadn't gotten the Garands yet.

'We assaulted the HELL out of them Japs with those Springfields!'

I think that the number isn’t well known because of people building their own “off the record” ARs (and AKs).

1-our Sheriff doesn’t release CCW data to ANYONE, including other LEOs.
2-I’m never Registering anything
3-half my inventory has no 4473 associated
4-not shopping for suppressor to avoid Class III paper trail

The only ammo I’ll need to re-stock in the next 5 years is .45 and 12 gauge.

“They” is an array of Fascists.

I won’t be that specific. I will say this, if it gets to the point that I know an LE encounter would go like that, well, it ain’t gonna go like that.

I read those Marines refused to give up their ‘03s. They were trained and accomplished RIFLEMEN who could score accurate out to the 600 yds an ‘03 could reach. Why trade a rifle that would do what they could for a Garand that couldn’t. They had to be ordered to give up their Springfields.

I was shooting a hi power match and a guy even older than me (15 years ago) had been a Lt. In the Army in WWII. We got to talking about this very issue. He said tactical thought at the time was changing. One did not kill the enemy with rifles any longer but one just “found ‘em, pinned them down with rifle fire, and then brought in the mortar team to kill them”. For that you did not need rifle accuracy but rather a greater rate of fire.

Having fired both in competition I can say that with practice the ‘03 A3 can keep up with the Garand in rate of fire but it is easier with the Garand. A Garand can be made to shoot well but you gotta spend about a grand to get it to shoot as well as a run of the mill 03A3. I used to joke, that is why it is called Garand.

Wait until they realize that when there is no difference between owning a semi-automatic and an automatic, how many will “upgrade” at the earliest opportunity.

Some years ago, the putrid Time magazine had an issue called “Death by Gun” with photos and captions about a week’s worth of shooting deaths in America. Vast majority of suicides and murder-suicides involved terminally ill elderly people, suffering with no hope of recovery. Since doctors are afraid to help ease people out, many terminal patients chose the best available means for a quick end. 99.99% of those involved handguns. So Zdziarski thinks we should spend billions on psychiatrists and anti-depressants so that poor souls can be racked with pain and robbed of their dignity for a few more months of doped up existence? Clueless and cruel is a bad combination.

The next major tranch of shooting deaths were criminals — shot by criminals, shot by police, shot by intended victims. Except when by-standers are caught in the crossfire, these deaths were a public benefit (though huge resources are wasted treating wounded criminals).

The remaining 10% were traditional murders and accidents. This group was overwhelmingly murders of spouses by dumped or spurned men, some of whom offed themselves afterwards. This is an area where mental health interventions and better response to warning signs might do some good.

With a few adjustments for rap music, video games, and psych-med users, this likely hasn’t changed in decades.

“If you had a weapon which had two (any particular two) of these items below and accepting detachable magazines....you were banned...”

Did that mean you had to turn it in to the government?

Mental problems have little to do with the majority of murders by firearms.

This actually occured to me, that they would try this. But it’s not possible, the way the legislation is written.

Silly. “They” can always rewrite legislation. And pass it before “they” read it. THAT is how smart “they” are.

Funny thing, I’ve fire several full-auto’s, and while its fun, I don’t feel the need.

If “They” are coming at me that fast, it won’t make a difference.
