Just like Percival Lowell, if you look enough for something you'll find it. In Lowell's case it was canals on Mars, seen by him as evidence of an advanced civilization there.
In the case of Ms. Wade it is an aversion to men, and a desire to find masculinity as the root cause of every problem. She goes so far as to suggest "that men would fear gay men" and somehow men's need to enforce a patriarchy led to a gay man attacking other gay men. She utterly ignores the motivations the killer himself expressed.
Lowell was likely to have been motivated by a desire to discover something new, and while his perception was incorrect his observatory went on to make useful contributions to society.
Ms. Wade's motivation is not so benign. She evinces an overwhelming misandry, leading her to project her own hatred onto others.
