35k of the weakness was due to the Verizon strike that’s been settled since, but it still was a weak number even without that factor adding to it.

Fed prolly cannot go in June now, as they’d seem to have wished to do.

translation: Obama decided to re-cook the books in a way that will preclude the Fed from raising rates before the election.

The numbers are way down because it rained. Or maybe it snowed or got hot or something. If those excuses don’t fit then let’s blame W.

Interesting thought. Too many scandals and embarrassing stories for the administration. Time for a “distraction”.

That much is true. The non-farm payroll number is a lot closer to something that is real than the unemployment rate numbers. I do believe that they sincerely try to get it right, that it’s not the fraud that some posters here claim it is, but it’s too hard to be accurate with so many assumptions.

This is terrible.

A recession is right around the corner.

America is crazy to put these people back into power. They believe a part time job is being employed. They believe unemployed is just fine and dandy.

And they expect to pay for everyone else to get endless benefits on the backs of those working, even if it is only part-time.

This is a disaster

I don’t know what the strike would have to do with anything. People who are on strike cannot collect unemployment benefits nor are they considered unemployed.

I wonder if Obama had already seen these numbers before he went on his stuttering rant the other day?

Obama will blame Congress. Anything but his own policies that Hillary supports......expect something big to happen to get the focus off economy.

Under Bush 43 we had to have about a billion jobs a month just to say the economy was doing anything.

it affects this specific number, because they are not getting paid by Verizon when they are on strike. They are off the payrolls, so this headline number which is called “non-farm payrolls” did not have them on it this month.

It was included in the text of the report: http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

With the strike’s now having been settled, that 35k will come back on as a gain in NFP next month.

I’m surprised he even allowed these numbers to be released.

This is awful, and I laughed at his stammering and then concluding that his regulations and rules are responsible for all this prosperity we see. His sycophants are really corrupt, that is, those who applauded as he spoke those lies.

And now this report.

So, is it possible he was getting in the first comment on this report by claiming that THIS IS AWESOME! If so, it’s more of Goebbel’s big lie routine.

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for March was revised from +208,000 to +186,000, and the change for April was revised from +160,000 to +123,000. With these revisions, employment gains in March and April combined were 59,000 less than previously reported.

So if we are to infer that correction data from before as a harbinger of the current numbers revision....average revision downward was 29.5K. and this there were essentially near zero new jobs added.

Yesterday obunghole was blaming Talk-radio and Fox news for talking down the economy during his whole presidency! lol

So he already knows and jumped out front with the blame game. What a POS he is.
