All I can tell from it being a “unanimous voice vote,” is that he didn’t vote against him.

Which is bad enough.

Very true. I feel like such a fool for supporting Cruz when he ran for Senate. What a goof I was. We probably would have been better off with who he ran against.

Another sign that the majority of the Senate are traitors to the United States of America.

This is so demeaning - it almost makes me cry with anger. I hope Trump can clean this MESS up. Your military must be so demoralized.

Nully, it is amazing how much moral and other damage 0bama has done to our beloved country in these past 7 1/2 years.

Whether or not we can ever recover is up for debate.

I'm not optimistic.

"McCain noted that this year's National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, ensures that the Obama administration does not have the authority to release or transfer detainees to the U.S. mainland."

hussein's been releasing them on a regular basis.

No way ! Now , more than ever , we need good decent patriotic youth to join up . We need command , at all levels , to MAN UP ! And to openly state what they feel the civilian participation should be . And not be . Contrary to everything that has gone before , I know . By our p/c civilian system has so degenerated that it now threatens our culture and our republic as never. There needs to come a period when all the former rules of civilian political leadership go away for awhile . We need a military composed of enlightened warrior leadership , as never before .

Unanimous vote, not even one Senator was willing to stand up against depravity. The US military is being made into a social justice warrior fabulous force that will fold up against any real enemy. Vlad smiles more every day.

I have met him. Conducts himself with dignity and intelligence when on the job. Well spoken with no stupid left comments that I heard.

If he is a rump ranger, he has NO BUSINESS being anywhere near the army, much less running it.

Additionally, actual combat experience would seem to be a bare minimum qualification (among others) to be Secretary of the Army, Navy, Air Force or any other high level Pentagon job. I have never been in combat and I would not presume to claim a right to decide policy, rules of engagement, etc. for those who ARE in combat.

Many Americans conduct themselves with dignity and intelligence when on the job. Many are well-spoken. Not all of them (by any means) fit to command troops at a platoon level much less an entire service branch.

A Dartmouth education is a potentially nice credential for a job carrying out functions rooted in general knowledge, intellectual horsepower, and high level witty repartee. When it comes to high military command, give me someone who is focused on and capable of developing a fearsome fighting force which will, when called upon, promptly kill massive numbers of our enemies, break their things, confiscate their assets to pay for every nickel expended on the exercise and promptly get the hell out. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Had the same talk with my kid.

The calculus changes with Trump in the White House.

the Senate majority is controlled by the GOP..........blame them.

**************

The GOP has the majority but still works for its Democrat masters who continue to run the place.
