160 years, 40 GOP conventions, and EVERY SINGLE nominee gained the majority. But now you want the rules changed for Trump, who, if he can't get to 1,237, would be the WEAKEST NOMINEE in history.
Stop crying, turn off the TV, put down the beer, go get the delegates. It's not that hard.
The honey rather than vinegar thing was apparently not part of the Trump family curriculum.
I lived in New York. The "insult 'em and they'll respect you" approach actually does work in New York City, ----but not in lots of other places.
That's just not true, it happened in 1948:
For Republicans, the most recent brokered convention was in 1948, which also happened to be the first televised national convention. The top contenders were New York Gov. Thomas Dewey, U.S. Sen. Robert A. Taft of Ohio, and former Minnesota Gov. Harold Stassen.
Dewey failed to win enough votes to win the nomination in the first round of balloting, getting 434 votes to Taft's 224 and Stassen's 157. Dewey inched closer in the second round with 515 votes, but his opponents tried to create a bloc of votes against him.
They failed, and on the third ballot, both Taft and Stassen withdrew from the contest, giving Dewey all 1,094 delegate votes. He later lost to Harry S. Truman.

I still stand by my statement. With the remaining delegates, Cruz virtually has no chance of getting the nomination outright. If he needed something like 50% to 60% of the remaining delegates, I can understand the delegate play but it is pretty impossible at this point to get it outright.
The only thing he can do is the principled thing and withdraw (Santorum needed 75% of the remaining delegates and he withdrew, Cruz needs something like 88% of the remaining delegates) or join in with the corrupt GOPe establishment and their nationwide apparatus, to try to steal it.

Gosh nappy,
Haven’t you told the world how smart the five year old drama queen is? If he is so smart, why is the drama queen clueless in how the delegate selection process works?
The drama queen is 70 or almost 70. He’s not learning anything new. He is what we see he is. A drama queen. A five year old drama queen. If the drama queen had learned anything since last summer, any emotionally stable person would not have behaved in his manner. He can’t help himself. Drama queens are like that.
Methinks the drama queen has some company...
Reagan was knowledgeable and knew of what he spoke and wrote about. Reagan was emotionally stable and was not a drama queen. Reagan knew and understood how to treat people and work with them. Remember how it appeared fairly easy Reagan got Tip to go along or at least let the dems vote their conscience. That didn't happen by accident.
And speaking of hard work, you are absolutely correct, Reagan did the nitty gritty, day to day speaking, talking and meeting peoples and groups in ways that T***p appears to think is beneath him. But to take it further, Reagan worked hard in infiltrating the Republican apparatus on all levels, so the party worked for him and not against him. Reagan and his aides recruited supporters to not only run for local office, but they recruited supporters to run for the local republican committee and recruited supporters to vote for them. I recall entire slates of local republican party committee members losing en masse to Reagan supporters. Reagan supporters took over and they made the rules. These people, in turn, then took over the state party committees and then, finally, the Republican National Committee. This took much work over a period of several years before the 1980 primaries. I recall these establishment people screaming that the Reagan supporters forced them out and they did not go quietly, but in the end, Reagan was indeed a unifier and won them over.
This is why Reagan and T***p should never be in the same sentence. One took the high road and worked from within, much of it behind the scenes organizing and strategizing and winning. The other, decided to do it the cheap and lazy way, assuming his bullying, taunting and rancid intimidating was all he needed. The drama queen also thought he did not need to know much of anything to run. All he needed to do was spout his poll numbers as the answer to every question. T***p thought wrong.
The great thing about Trump getting the nomination is that means pretty much the end of our corrupt GOPe (you know, the GOPe and their whole nationwide apparatus that has gotten behind Cruz to try to steal this thing).
I know for a fact it isn’t so, Mr. Trump assured me that Ted Cruz can’t work with anybody. It’s a fact and I will not have you disparaging Mr. Trump’s judgement!

LOL
If that means millions stay home because they can't vote for T***p in November, so be it. We will be better off in the long run and we can try again in 2020. Don't bother to tell me we can't wait four more years - yes, we can.
I don’t think getting those delegates are as import as the northeast. Sorry it isn’t. Once Cruz starts getting third place in all those states and can’t get 1237. Calls for him to drop out will be loud from the media.
No he's not. Even what he claims to have spent ("self funded") so far, he hasn't spent. He has just "loaned" money to his campaign. That means that he can demand his money to be paid back and the campaign will need to raise money from elsewhere or be left holding the bag.
That is the same game he reportedly plays with construction contractors who he routinely stiffs for the last 10-20% of their money, claiming that they did substandard work, whether true or not. It is usually not worth their time and hassle to sue him, as it could cost more at that point than the likely ~10% recovery. Why anybody still bids on his developments is a mystery, unless you consider the union and mob angles.
Yeah, Ted Cruz has been a huge disappointment for me.

How does that disqualify him? He's not a career professional politician but he catching up to speed fairly quickly by hiring his new convention manager. I understand he is very good and will right the ship shortly. If Trump gets the required number of delegates, he should be the nominee, otherwise the corrupt GOP establishment gets their candidate once again.
You're crazy if you think we can wait four more years. This country is beyond broke and you want to give the Uniparty and Globalist establishment at least four more years to continue to plunder and destroy this nation?
We cannot afford to wait.

“..I am writing in trump period if he doesnt get the nod.”
I hear Hillary wants to thank you for that.
“....Just cannot close the deal, despite writing(bragging) books about deals.”
Trump can only make business deals for HIMSELF.
Herbert Hoover was also a businessman, but he didn’t do so well as POTUS.
If Donald Trump can’t pick good advisors for a decent ground game to win an election, how the heck is he going to pick good advisors as president?
Trump is just NOT presidential material, in so many ways.
Won’t work. You idiot Cruz lovers are at fault.
I think you fail to see the point. The men who run your bank, the men who run the great economic institutions are in fact men like you and I who form personal relationship and have a certain way of looking at the the world. There is a right side to their brain. and it manifests itself in such actions as the ganging upon on the Governor of Georgia on a matter totally unrelated to their businesses. Trump is a member of this club, He shares their values. Sixty years ago, the members of that club were the sort that thought of themselves as gentlemen. In the old Anglo-Saxon sense. Rather in the WASP sense. That is no longer true, but only the values have changed, not the notion that they are part of the Ruling Class of the United States. Our royalty. Peers of the realm.
Well I think you are going to get the opportunity to see a President who actually solves some problems while in office. Of all your grievance’s about govt. Donald Trump did not cause any of them.
