The GOPe assclown and the sniveling Cruz make me sick. I am preparing for a Hillary presidency.

I have a question.....a serious one and please none of thse attacks.. WHO is behind this story from Politico?? What TRUTH is there in this article? Does anyone know from the CRUZ camp if this is a FACT?

I was approached by three political campaigns to run as a bound delegate in Maryland this year (long story, but a lot of candidates know and trust me). That's how it's done in some states. In other states, the party selects delegates either before or after the primary election, to represent the interests of the state party, and all active campaigns get as involved as state rules permit in stacking those delegations.

It's not sleaze, but it's not classy either. It's supposed to be to make sure the delegation watches over local interests in the party platform (Ethanol is one such example, and Abortion is another), but it works out in the rare contested convention to be a major factor after the first ballot. I was approached months ago, but I would be startled if Cruz, Kasich, Jeb, Christie (he wants influence!), and yes Trump - that's The Art of the Deal in politics - were not doing this in SC, in LA, and everywhere else, plus lobbying bound delegates to either keep their loyalty or shift their votes after that first ballot.

That is how it works, if you don’t win on the first ballot, delegates can move away from you to someone else who can win a majority.

As a Trump supporter I thank you. I agree, I just want an honest & fair election. If Cruz wins the nomination fairly, congrats to him & his supporters.

May the best man win:)

HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!

I answered your post because I want FREEPERs to see that it is possible to disagree on the candidate but respond in kind, decent, no " cuss words" fashion...

Two can still disagree here on Free Republic, and respectfully. Yes, may the best man win.

THANK YOU for spreading some very needed light on this subject!! I am going to copy and print this out so I don't lose sight of just how this process works.

No doubt Trump would be doing the same with Cruz delagates as you said due to his " deal making".

I don't like it, but your post gives much clarity to the issue.

Thank you for your reply. Respectfully, I can not tell you any more than what we both read in Politico. I do understand it does have a Left Wing bias, but I have read other stories that I found objective. There is a South Carolina FR site called: South Carolina Ping, on this page in response to my post. it was referred to me by:upchuck who says he is in the SC network and follows political activity there on this Ping. you might try that out to get a better grasp of the situation.

I can tell you this first hand: Before retiring from activity I worked over 30 years; as a conservative in political and social action within my own Washington State Republican District, County,State and National Convention level, as delegate and network organizer. So I can Tell you with certainty that this sort of delegate “rustling” goes on all the time. I have never seen a convention without it.

This is why having an experienced trusted network of like minded workers in place long before the convention starts is so important. You choose the strongest, most willing and dedicated persons to be elected or selected as delegates. They must register to do that Some States allow late registration, because(yes) there are usually many seats still open. Even so, after the first ballot in which they are bound, it is a free for all and the team that has lined up the most delegates to file late and/or switch sides often wins. Politics is another name for warfare without violence. Fortunately, it is the only alternative to shooting it out in the streets. Thank God, so far ,with the exception od the Civil War, it has worked.

I read they are doing the same thing with the Louisiana delegates and potentially other states as well.

IF those ballots were cast for Trump they are Trumps. If those ballots were cast for Cruz they are Cruz’s. If those ballots were cast for Kasich they are Kasich’s. You don’t go in AFTER the count and change the will of the people....

Can you imagine the drama if Trump gets 1236 delegates on the first ballot, and then the GOPe tries to ram Mittens in in his place on the 2nd?

This will not fly. If the large majority of the voters get cheated, now matter how “legal,” there will be hell to pay, and it will descend on the GOPe.

Romney wasn’t on the “ peoples ballot “ at all and therefore shouldn’t be considered even if there are half that many for any candidate!
I know there is a provision to change candidates but it doesn’t seem right. Wish I knew why that was on the books to begin with...

Cruz and Kasich are both working hard to negate the vote.

Ignorant statement. Delegates are locked on Trump for only the 1st ballot, after that they can vote for someone else. Trump should go in and secure them for subsequent ballots and also try to steal other delegates from other states for subsequent ballots.

Trump's ego may be betting on getting 1,237 for the 1st ballot though this is becoming less likely. Trump's trashing of the other candidates may make getting delegates to flip for hin difficult.

What TRUTH is there in this article?

Oh it is happening alright in any state won by the other candidate. If Trump is not trying to get Cruz delegates to vote for him in the 2nd ballot then he does not deserve to win.

Candidates must also make sure that candidates bound to them stay with them in the 2nd and subsequent rounds.

This type of "ground game" is usually not necessary because one candidates gets enough delegates early.

I’m surprised how “low information” the Trump supporters are. They believe the nomination is Trump’s by right and if he does not get it there must be a conspiracy of some sort.

Seems that Cruz and Kasich are playing the ground game and I would think Trump is too. Or is Trump a complete idiot?
