A true political movement capable of competing for 435 House seats and 100 Senate seats is not something that can be manufactured out of thin air overnight. Nor is there any real evidence that such a movement independent of Trump is even possible.

By the time something "new and positive" would arise (which I don't think it ever would) even if that were possible, it will be too late. Democrats will have had too many years of controlling Congress for it to matter anymore.

And this is the part I really don't get about Trump supporters who want to destroy the GOP. Whatever flaws Republicans in Congress have is magnified tenfold by Democrats. It's no accident that Obamacare passed only during a very tiny window when Democrats controlled the Presidency, House, and had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

If you give the Democrats control of Congress, Trump will be able to get almost nothing through. His agenda will be stalled right in its tracks because not only with Democrats hate him, but Republicans you guys want to eliminate will (for obvious reasons) be fighting him as well.

If your goal is to destroy the GOP, don't expect it to go quietly, and don't expect it to support the guy who will be the instrument of their destruction.

To me, it's much smarter to try to work with the Republicans in Congress and see what can get done before getting rid of all them, but perhaps that's just not nihilistic enough for some.
