Then, only the demonstrators and their leaders like Hayden blamed the political candidates for the youthful demonstrators' violence.
Humphrey wasn't much of a presence.
A lot of liberals blamed Daley and his police for the riots, though.

I had no idea that the publisher of the American Spectator was at the Chicago convention riots, standing with and behind the police. His observations are really on point. Glad to see he is pro-Trump! One of the few conservative magazines in Trump’s corner.

No. April 5, 1968 when King was killed the rioting began in Chicago. My dad had a contracting company in a large warehouse & offices on the West Side on Madison Street, and fires raged all around it.
The Democrat riots began with the convention 8/28/68. I was a sophomore at St Ignatius
High School, directly next door to the UIC where the rioting took place the other night.
But back then, my English teacher did get arrested, a young Jesuit-to-be.
Ah, the fond idyllic days of yore!

I think the cordon of EPA agents supervising that Super Fund site
would keep me miles away from it. ;-)

You’re right.
I meant to say the “political” riots.

There’s a pun in there somewhere but I’m too busy
waiting for her to stand up to look for it right now.

It continues, but it is a different paradigm.
