Cruz is more purist on this, but appears decreasingly likely by the day to win.

If Trump had a good REASON to support Tenth Amendment related issues, he’d champion them. The most obvious reasons would be those that gave rise to this provision, such as that there is no one size fits all answer. And this relates to a lot of air pollutant issues. What crowded New Jersey might not wish to tolerate might be a non-issue in wide open Nebraska.

... convert traditional production engines to engines that don’t meet emissions standards...

As opposed to VW selling New cars that don't meet emission standards right off the dealers lot?

The Constitution is amendable so the people can basically do whatever they want to do. But let’s work things within the framework of the Constitution instead of being slaves to an unconstitutionally big federal government.

As a news junkie this story is just stupid.

As a racing fan?

I think NASCAR would do both themselves and their fans HUGE favor by eliminating MOST of the rules that have made all the cars virtually identical.

Let the teams and manufactures find the best "Aero packages" and motors and even the tires without any NASCAR rules. Let them be different and the NASCAR media would/could increase their audience by reporting and educating people about those differences instead of making it all about the drivers.

Bring back the old saying of "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday"

And F88K the EPA.

We are rapidly approaching the point where everything is illegal.

That which is not mandatory is forbidden.

“I thought this particular bit of EPA nonsense was specific to vehicles “that have been certified by EPA”. In other words, production street-legal cars and trucks. If that’s the case, it has no bearing on NASCAR, as none of their cars or engines are built for street use.”

I’m involved with Sports Car Club of America Road Racing. Half or more of our racing classes involve modified street vehicles. We routinely have a class that brings out 75 or more Mazda Miatas, which have been modified for track use.

I get the Miata thing but would have thought you would see more RX-7’s?

Mazda has always been active in sports car racing. In fact, they put big chunks of money into Laguna Seca in Montery, CA where we race. The Miata is a current production vehicle, it’s a good race car and it’s relatively in expensive. We have several classes for Miatas based on modifications. A few people still race RX-7’s but they are old cars now. One thing I can tell you as a corner worker, the damned RX-7’s are ear shattering except that now they have to meet track sound maximums so they are a little quieter. We also get a few of the old 13B powered Mazda IMSA cars in vintage races.

We need to go more fundamental than this. We need to remember why the constitution is, and was, the way it is and was.

Because speaking of slaves, the original constitution had no problem with that, as long as you were not of a popular color.

Constitutions can not generate moral authority on their own.

Anyhow, the fundamental reason for what we know as the last amendment in the Bill of Rights was a belief that God was averse to an all-powerful earthly king, or put conversely, that such a ruler would be an open door to evil. They’d already seen a sample of that with King George.

On the other hand our Founders would be aghast that we’ve gone way past anything King George was known to espouse and relegated “constitutional rights” to effectual figurehead and ceremonial status.

George Washington, could he see us in a crystal ball and speak forward through time to us, would say that he told us so; a weak God (or more precisely, weakly embraced God) is a bulwark against almost no evil. He’d say enjoy our decadence and our “gay marriages” because they will be our last hurrah if we don’t turn around in a tearing hurry and besiege the Throne with knee-mails.

Or everything is legal, depending on whose celestial team you’re on.

It should be a BIG clue.

The race we need to win is the one against the devil. And we get that victory by hopping in the Jesus car.
