Yup. I posted a similar sentiment not too long ago, but with more probability on the latter possibility.

To me the most likely outcome is that Trump reverts to his old form as an amoral spoiled brat bully with the attitudes and beliefs of a leftist New Yorker and the heart of a fascist and accomplishes NOTHING that his supporters expected from him. No reduction in the size, scope or power of the Leviathan.

Time will tell.

Everyone can see right here what I’ve added to the conversation:

He is staking much more than just HIS reputation here. He's putting it all out there, for himself, yes, but also for his family as well. I am sure they have all had serious discussions about this.

Base is already covered. Why else has he paraded Trump Jr. out. Jr. sounds more conservative than his father.

How could anyone believe a couple of first term Senators are not with all these guys?

In case you missed it (and that would be surprising because it is twisted against him) one of those guys is not well liked on Capitol Hill.

He has repeatedly spoken out against the Administrations policies and for the Constitution. He has argued cases before SCOTUS before getting elected to the Senate, so he knows the Constitution.

First we are told he is unpopular with the GOPe is for trying to uphold the Constitution, (which GOPe is the reason he hasn't been able to get anything done), then we're told he is no good because he isn't popular. Logical contortions which ignore the fact that being right is often unpopular.

June to November is a long time for the media to unload every barrel of every shotgun they have in their arsenal.

And when the media has expended all of their ammunition, and Trump is still standing tall, then their impotence and their realization of defeat will finally sink in.

I can't wait to see them fail.

Trump doesn't fear the lamestream media. Neither do his supporters. Should they? Do you?

Is hand-wringing one of the stages of grief?

Trump doesn't fear the lamestream media.

Then why is he wanting to change the libel laws if he doesn't fear the media?

Don't say that he is fearless in the face of the media. He is a first class bully and anyone who eggs him on is a bully just like him.

Trump may well not get done all he says—but he will do something—more than any other political hack. What will he do?
1. Provide real leadership in selection of people in his administration.
2. He will build a wall and secure the border—even if he must pay for it himself!
3. He will reform Obamacare and make it work.
4. He will put the Clintons out of business—if not in jail.
5. He will reach a new acord with Putin’s Russia.
6. He will get better deals with China, Japan and Mexico.
7. He will put in Tax reform.

Free Republic has become so interesting lately. I get confused if I’m on ProPublica or Free Republic?? All of a sudden all kinds of leftwing and progressofascist rags are all the rage and mandatory reading. Wonder what happened?

“Then why is he wanting to change the libel laws if he doesn’t fear the media?”

How about, because he *hates* the media. As do I.

I also hate the fact that our current interpretation of the First Amendment lends cover to agents of influence for foreign governments and organized crime.

I don’t know what we should do about it, but I do think we should do something. Perhaps we should have more faith in our ability to distinguish between fair comment and libel.

I know what you mean, but I am unwilling to put power in the hands of a man who promises so much and is so needy in that he acts like a crybaby when his feelings get hurt.

I think that everyone should obey the Constitution. If the laws are askew then they should be realigned with Constitutional law at the earliest convenience.

That’s odd. I just looked through the first 50 of your comments on your FReeper page and the only time you even mentioned Cruz was to say he will win

huh...

You’re overstating the personal commitment to Trump.

But the gratis psychoanalysis is appreciated.

“I know what you mean, but I am unwilling to put power in the hands of a man who promises so much”

He has only promised to reverse the ravages of measures the slobbering-moron left has taken while I have been alive.

I think any intelligent man of good faith could accomplish that.

“and is so needy in that he acts like a crybaby when his feelings get hurt.”

I think that is a misrepresentation. It is long past time that someone took those media filthbuckets and lying leftards to task for their attempts to harm the US.

After all, it’s impossible to say anything adequately critical and insulting to or about them.

“I think that everyone should obey the Constitution.”

All liberals lie all the time, and they have been lying about the Constitution for decades. Today, it can be hard to know what the document really means.

Killing preborn babies is not just legal but positively meritorious; Good, sober, honest men can be denied their right to self-defense; people can be denied educational opportunities because of the color of their skin; males must be allowed to use women’s toilets...

“If the laws are askew then they should be realigned with Constitutional law at the earliest convenience.”

Not before the Constitution is healed of the poisonous influence of leftism.

That said, the Constitution does not say that agents of foreign hostile powers must be allowed to publish propaganda without let or hindrance.
