The anti-Trump haters must be delirious with joy. The pope has now blessed their hate for Trump and as a special added bonus the pope has said that marrying same sex couples is now ok in the church. What could be more conservative?

Maybe, but today I am forced to ask, “Which is more likely, the Pope is a Christian, or Donald Trump is a Christian?” Seems like a toss-up right now.

Neither is this Pope. The Pope lives in a walled city. 50 foot high walls.

Illegal immigration is a church growth policy in the US for the Catholic Church. Catholic charities assist the process at every step.

The salient point about the Pope's "wall" comment is: ONLY TRUMP WILL BUILD A WALL.

And the Pope knows it. In other words, the Pope knows that Cruz won't build a wall, despite Cruz saying in one or more debates, parroting Trump, that he would build a wall.

Only Trump Will Build A Wall, the Pope Agrees

Viva Political Incorrectness! It seems to me we have gotten nowhere by being politically correct, so maybe these two individuals will move things along.

“Judge ye not” is yet another part of the Bible the Pope seems to have skipped over.

Calm down. Trump is getting on my last nerve, but on this the pope is wrong and Trump is right.

And while I might question Trump’s Christianity, I don’t question his willingness to defend America. And am beginning to question the pope’s Christianity; this is the first pope in my lifetime whose actual Christian faith I question. Thats sad to say.

The mudslinging in these threads (and in the press) does not represent the real world. For most Cruz people, Trump is their #2. I tend to believe that for most Trump people, Cruz will be their #2. I don’t really see a #3 for either of us.

If it was a real pope like Benedictine going after you I’d worry. In the case of Francis, he talks in circles and will change his mind three times before the week is out.

It’s easy for the Pope to tell others to be charitable. The history of the Roman Catholic Church is one of great wealth that is only sometimes used to help the poor—probably about as often as Donald Trump contributes to charity. The Vatican is the ultimate gated community, and that’s unlikely to change. To take literally the biblical mandate to sell what one has and give it to the poor is tantamount to committing suicide, and I haven’t noticed the Pope or any Church officials doing that lately. Remember that is was partly because of excessive Church wealth and political influence that the Protestant Reformation came about, and papal power has been on a downhill course ever since. A contest between the Pope and secular authorities today would not end well for the Pope. Even if he used the threat of excommunication, that would not be taken seriously by most people. The days are long past when Emperor Henry IV stood in the snows of Canossa making his submission to Pope Gregory VII.

Donald Trump is probably not a Christian, and by the fruits of the current Pope, neither is the Pope.

I have only seen Trump pander to Christians and question other candidates faiths, which is OK, he’s trying to win votes, you know, like a politician needs to do. You gotta expect these kinds of things. It’s a non-issue.

The Pope needs to butt his nose out of US politics. He’s supposed to be the leader of the Catholic Church, not a political spokesperson for the UN.
