This is a great article in pointing out that conservatives for the most part are intellectual snobs who do not want to get their hands dirty like the working class. That is why conservatism has failed. It is taught by people who sit on their asses all day long talking behind a microphone or a computer pretending they are in the real world.

They didn’t understand Reagan’s appeal either.

The only things the “conservative” elite have conserved is their only income, wealth, and position. They haven’t “conserved” anything else, certainly not the nation. Under their watch we have seen a once great nation take on the look and feel of an internal empire of competing ethnic and racial groups. We have more and more people who have less and less in common. All this is barely being held together by a distant, and increasingly, out of touch group in far off DC, most of them taking their marching orders from unelected, and unseen pullers of their stings, and dispensers of money to feed their greed.

The Elites are not conservatives, they have much more in common with their Liberal friends.

I wish there was a way to deport the elites along with the illegals they love.

Well, self-nominated and media annointed armchair "conservative spokesmen," yes. Real day to day working conservatives, not so much. The hard cold light of reality has a tendency to deflate pomposity while reinforcing conservative truths.

“Candidness and an intolerance for business as usual (Bernie Sanders employs these qualities as well). The working class has long believed that most politicians - it matters not a whit whether they are Republicans or Democrats - neither speak to them or for them.”

POS Socialist Sanders should be in prison with the rest of the current and former scumbags/elitists/progressives/rinos/representatives/senators who created and/or had a hand in this

OK, so on one hand we got guys like Jeb Bush and Mario Rubio, who are certainly nice young fellows, but who are about as inspirational as Mister Rogers. Ted Cruz, is the guy solid conservatives love, but for some reason, too many people just don't like well enough to support. Probably couldn't beat Hillary. Nice, but no cigar.

And then this Trump guy showed up, and when they asked him "What is best in life?", he answered "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their of their women!"

Who ya gonna get excited about?

I’m certainly not a snob but I don’t agree with this article. Most people in this country are The Working Class.

They vote Republican because they don’t like Big Government, too many useless agencies, high taxes and interference in private lives.

As for Trump’s appeal, I’ll admit to being at a loss.

I do not see it. I do not understand it.

I was watching CNN for a few minutes this morning and they were talking about Jeb Bush and how he’s now brought his whole family including Dubya into his campaign.

They showed a clip of Donald Trump in his odd, whiny voice claiming that George W. Bush gave us Obama.

I suddenly realized just how much I dislike this man. I voted for Romney with much more enthusiasm than I can muster to vote for him.

I actually think I would prefer to vote for any of the other candidates except Carson and Rubio.

What an odd disaster has befallen us with this awful man.

OP is obviously insane.

I am a prep school-and-ivy league-educated conservative. I don’t like Donald Trump because he’s a regressive, Socialism Lite idiot.

Trump is a 1/100 of 1%er ho was raised in a $400 million net worth household. He has about as much connection to the working class as Barack Obama.
