It's quite impressive what Putin did in Russia, he singlehandily saved the nation from oblivion and returned the nation to its "great power" status after a 20 years hibernation.

By reducing US options in Syria he saved America from screwing things up even more. We owe Putin gratitude. Seriously, I think since Clinton (as shocking as this may seem I respect and approved of the George Bush, Sr's foreign policy) to Bush to Obama the USA has had the worst foreign policy idea I have ever seen. It could be that the old guard left / retired when George Bush lost to Clinton and was replaced by young idiots out to remake the world (be they neocons under W. Bush or Clinton/Blair neo-liberals).

It has been an unmitigated disaster.
