I wanted an advocate, someone to take my side and deliver. Someone that would fight tooth and nail for my interests, who would I choose?

I'd start by limiting my choices to those who I am confident share (most of) my interests.

Donald Trump does not make the cut.

Ted Cruz bent over backward to avoid criticizing Trump, in hopes that the billionaire's campaign would eventually flame out, leaving his supporters to flock to the man who'd treated him best. Trump responded by repeatedly insisting Cruz's Canadian birth renders him ineligible for the presidency. Just three days ago, Trump called Cruz "an anchor baby" and declared that the Texas senator "may not be a U.S. citizen."

This is a lie. Ted Cruz only bent over backward in public yet talked out of the other side of his mouth in private, also saying Trump cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons.
Trump was responding to audio obtained by The New York Times of Cruz speaking at a private fundraiser this week, where Cruz made transparent remarks about his strategy to pick off Trump and Ben Carson voters by not going on attack.

"My approach, much to the frustration of media, is to bear hug both of them and smother them with love," Cruz said. "I believe that gravity will bring both of those candidates down. I think the lion share of their supporters will come to us."

Though Cruz also said he " like(s) and respect(s)" Trump and Carson, he questioned their fitness to lead the country.

"You look at Paris, you look at San Bernardino, it's given a seriousness to this race," Cruz said. "People are looking for who is prepared to be a commander in chief. Who understands the threats we face. 'Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button?' Now that's a question of strength, but it's also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them."

The headline was, Leaked Ted Cruz audio has Donald Trump readying attack

It shows the audacious duplicity that Cruz will act like a friend in public for all to see yet bad mouth Trump and Carson in private to his donors.

That does not suggest a forthright Christian character. It rather makes Cruz appear a sneaky conniving Ivy League lawyer.

Of course you know I question Ted's eligibility but I also doubt his fitness.

I was all right with Trump until I began reading his very own words. I didn't make my mind up because of what anyone has said about him. I took what the talk show hosts said with a grain of salt. Then I read what Trump has actually written and I am astounded that I could not see past his mouth.

But, we do learn from what comes out of a person's mouth, so I say let him talk. That is in the Bible somewhere. We need to know exactly what is in his heart and what he has planned for America.

This is fraud, hubris and disrespect, and fair warning about a future from knowing the past:

A draft dodger.

The same Trump who fought to keep veterans from LEGALLY selling outside his Trump Tower.

Showing his NYC values, Trump called vets a detriment to NYC (and when he lost he put up huuuge planter barricades).

Trump failed though, just like he did when he tried to take a widow's home for a limo parking lot for a NJ casino - then praised the eminent domain Kelo decision as "wonderful").

He's phony who had nothing to say about Fort Hood in 2009, but in 2012 (with political aspirations) decided to start pandering and tweeted about it.

This is what you'll get with a "President" Trump:

A commander in chief that belittles U.S. prisoners of war.

A commander in chief that likes and defends Putin - a KGP goon that shoots down domestic airliners.

A commander in chief that is in awe of Kim Jung-Un and how, at such a young age, he took charge - in such a commanding way - the brutal family dictatorship of North Korea (that closed society of starving people).

No matter how desperately you want to believe, screaming a hysteric lie over and over does not change fiction to fact.

Trump has given quite a bit to a veterans housing group in Sioux City.

He did so last summer, and has continued. Political play? Maybe, but it has helped a few disabled vets.

A draft dodger.

How dare you call Trump a draft dodger! Did he burn his draft card like so many of our generation? Did he flee to Canada to avoid induction? Did he protest the draft as untold thousands did?

He did not do any of that.

Were there hundreds of thousands of young men that stood a few steps away from the Draft Board waiting for a letter? Did you ever have a relative that while making a transition between schools made himself eligible for a time?

My brother was warned by a person at the Draft Board that he was about to be called, which gave him enough time to enlist in the Air Force to avoid Hobson's choice. I bet you think my brother dodged the draft even though he spent twelve active years in service. Even though I had a very high number and would never had been called, I still enlisted as Viet Nam was winding down just to have a job.

A draft dodger; to paraphrase the stalwart Inigo Montoya said, "you keep using that phrase, I do not think it means what you think it means."

You're right. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. (Matt. 12:34)

I agree. We should let him talk and reveal who he is. But here's the problem ... how do we get people to care about the varying versions of "truth" that come out of his mouth? If you can say you don't like POWs who were captured, if you can ridicule someone with a disability, if you can say very hateful things about people's looks and never pay a price for such oafish behavior, is it even possible to for him to cross the proverbial line? Maybe he really can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue.

This is exactly the kind of behavior that conscientious parents teach their kids NOT to engage in, and yet this man undermines such teachings. But it gets worse; he's applauded for his meanness and bullying. Hey kids, ignore your parents. Forget courtesy. Bullying and rudeness are the winning way. And by all means, never never never turn the other cheek.

I don't worship any man. I subscribe to same conservative philosophy that Ted Cruz does and have watched him pay a big price for going against the grain in D.C. He has earned my respect, so until and unless he begins to act like an adolescent who's trying to sweet talk a girl to let him have his way with her, I'm going to stick with Cruz. He's not a perfect man, but he's got far more integrity than the progressive. Far more.

We really can’t get anyone to understand, that is something they have to do on their own. Meanwhile, we train our kids right to recognize a charlatan and we vote accordingly.

Sorry the fifty state sweep didn’t work out for you guys. The Trump mystique was built on the inevitability of his winning. He’s now 0-1, which damages the brand. Maybe President Cruz will make him Secretary of Ice Skating Rinks.
