Yes, we do have a habit of not signing agreements (rightfully so) but then following them. . .as the referenced article points out.
I dodged a few when in Gulf War I, with the 101st as a USAF FAC on the ground.
“The idea that a not dropping a baseball bat is grounds to be killed makes me sick.”
If you were to step towards me with a baseball bat, you had better have your affairs in order. A baseball bat is a deadly weapon.

Perhaps but there are how far away was this guy from the cop who shot him and was he threatening anyone? It just seems to me that the cops today are all too ready to take someone’s life, and that’s a problem.
Payback is a bitch
I hadn't gotten to that, yet. I was still stuck on how much better and less traumatized any money 'Officer Rialmo' acquired would make him feel. Modern life can be complex, dontchaknow.
Oh, Chicago ... never mind. All of our agencies out here use hollow points - 9mm or .40, HST or Golden Sabres. I carry HST; don’t want to go beyond a wall, or perp.
Just think of the money they’re saving using ball...
Sounds like PTSD. The officer should lose his job and any weapons he owns, because he is now mentally deficient.
Now?
everybody i know carries JHPs or frangibles because they want to avoid a situation like this. terrible damage equals fewer shots equals safer bystanders
Just in case the thug’s family gets the race pimps in Chicago to cough up some cash for the dead thug. Its all good. The money is better in the hands of the office than the thug clan.
I should have used the /s tag. We have heard so much about soldiers returning and being processed with PTSD, and now being deemed mentally unfit to handle guns, etc. It seems this should apply to LEO as well, just to get some pushback to this stupid development.
