As it stands now, Trump doesn't need to do any more debates until he gets to the general election.

That may be hard to maintain. Even for Trump. He can't play the Kelly/FOX card on other networks scheduled to debate. His fans have enjoyed spamming polls to say he's won every poll. They'll miss his cute faces. The media will miss his ratings. And the subsequent rounds of voters are used to getting some attention. They'll be jealous. Trump's strength is in his media manipulation. If he keeps hiding from its expected formulas it will eventually weaken him. People are going to start asking why he's turned from playing the King of the Jungle to the Cowardly Lion. And wonder if he's up to the expected three Presidential debates. Trump fans may not think anyone else can hurt Trump. But I don't believe they think Trump can't hurt Trump, rather they have faith Trump won't hurt himself. He really doesn't want them to lose their faith, it's his greatest asset.

None of the other candidates has as well researched and documented information.>>> agreed Cruz has a resume of legislation that went no where. If Trump does. wall, tax, common cor, obamacare, vets, results will be decades long.

I bet you'd find the psychology underlying first impressions interesting and helpful further study, if you haven't been there already.

It's scary/amazing the many buttons all humans have and how oblivious we can be to their use both for and against us and our behavior.

On one hand, the best leaders, parents, teachers, coaches, military commanders, etc. use this knowledge to "create" champions, to their benefit and to the benefit of all.

On the other hand, also be sure that people like marketers, career politicians, serial daters, etc. have this stuff down cold and use it so well, even instinctively, that only they are aware of what they are doing.

A dumbed down population, especially if a "crisis" is involved, is no match for people with those skills, perhaps a few names come to mind.

Thanks for that interesting reply. After reading that, I see Trump perhaps choosing to do another debate or two, ones with professional moderators focused on topics Trump is strong in.

And it gives him the opportunity to stick it to Fox News again by showing how reasonable he can be when treated fairly.

professional moderators

The last time in their lives any of these will get to Pro moderators was when Cruz was at Princeton. They're stuck with a bunch of journalism majors. That's the deal, deal with it!

focused on topics Trump is strong in

How is focusing on ONLY the areas where one candidate is strongest, fair? Not only would that be a gold plated ego trip it would be hugely unfair to the competition and to the voters being denied fully informed consent. And fairness to those voters should be the only 'fairness' that matters.

For that matter what constrains the responsibilities of the next American President to his aspirations and strengths? W didn't campaign on his 911 response; he was going to privatize social security. Debates should cover all likely presidential issues, and a selection of less likely ones, so voters can judge how candidates respond to questions for which they don't have rehearsed answers. The winning candidate will need to be 'good enough,' not necessarily 'good,' to get us through whatever happens. Voters don't expect candidates to have zero weaknesses. Those candidates don't exist. They need to judge the candidates' strengths AND weaknesses and pick the whole with which they are most comfortable. If you're unwilling to let the public see both, don't run for the job. It's no ones birthright (sorry Jeb.)

Last September, interview on 60 Minutes:

Have you had any luck finding five minutes of a mature coherent Trump? How about two-and-a-half ?

:)
