Think about it. If Trump wins Iowa after skipping the debate, there will remain a lingering doubt of whether he could have pulled off the win had he been forced to answer tough questions.

Matt, I've thought about it. No it doesn't. It's a dumb thought. Put down the bottle. Take a nap, man.

If Trump wins Iowa after EVERY single paper, network, talking head, and blogger in the universe attacking him the way they have for a solid month non-stop, then I'd say his support is pretty solid.

Be prepared to vote for Trump as the GOP nominee.

Oh, come on! Just as many people will say just the opposite: He won without having to attend the debate. Indeed, I think this thought would be more common than the above.

If Trump is not your guy, then invest in nose clips now.

Nah.
Ohio is the make-or-break contest.
Even then a very close competitor still has a chance.

“South Carolina Will Be Establishment’s Last Chance to Stop Trump”

South Carolina Will Be True conservative’s Last Chance to Stop Trump.
There fixed the wording.

And nope won’t prepare myself for that. I’ll refuse to hold my nose and vote liberal yet again
Bush I II McLame Romney (which he is left of Romney). I’ll be able to sleep knowing this conservative didn’t kid himself in pulling the lever for a liberal.

“Trump’s decision to skip the Des Moines debate might or might not be a smart move. But it guarantees us that he won’t “seal the deal” until he can prove himself in South Carolina. But if he does, the nomination will be his.”

A singularly stupid assessment! The deal IS SEALED already! Trump is playing Chess while the rest are playing Checkers. Trump has been three moves ahead of the field from the getgo!

IMHO, if Trump wins in Iowa, then what Cruz said is correct - he’s leading in New Hampshire by a lot, and putting those 2 wins together means that it will be very difficult for anyone (i.e. Cruz himself) to catch him after that. Money and endorsements will dry up, and all of the momentum will be Trump’s.

As for Bush or Rubio being able to stop him, even IF all of the others resign and all of their support goes to that one guy - ha, ha, ha, ha, ha...it’ll never happen. NO ONE who is part of the establishment will win, because 80% of the electorate is sick to death of the establishment (that goes for Dems & Pubbies, but more so for the latter).

Trump is all but the nominee right now. Obama would need to order his plane shot out of the sky to change that.

I find that I often do NOT have a lot in common with newpapers or network talking heads. The only blogs I ever read are right here on FR and I often AGREE with those FReepers.
In fact, for me, if the media LIKE someone, that is a RED FLAG for me.
I would WORRY if they and I shared anything more than having a vertebral column.

Here in Florida Trump is waaaaaay up. The primary is march 15 and is a winner take all state. I think the election will be wrapped up prior to the Florida primary but if not Florida will seal it for Trump.

“I’ll be able to sleep knowing this conservative didn’t kid himself in pulling the lever for a liberal.”

So I take it, you will “sleep well” with Hillary as our next President? I am constantly amazed at thought processes like you exhibit! It’s like selling gas chambers to the Germans!

Rubio takes a surprise 2nd in Iowa (thanks to GOPe GOTV efforts) to get the momentum for him going.
NH will be his “coming out” (heh) party, where he will come within 6 of Trump solidifying him as the #2 man in the race.

Cruz will skip NH after a narrowly coming in 3rd to Rubio, and will focus on SC where he will hope to battle him and regain the 2nd spot before Super Tuesday. Trump still wins SC, but Cruz/Rubio will be the big fight for 2nd going into Florida.

Florida will be the climax of that fight.

Then the Establishment is toast because Rubio is likely to do better but Jeb is too deluded to drop out.
