This is ridiculous. You can’t read. Miller himself said it was not only a story of hysteria in Salem it was about the supposed hysteria during the McCarthy era. When did I deny that? I didn’t. I said the play can be read simply as a story of Salem. Which is why it is still produced. If it was simple 50s agit-prop, it would be gathering dust on the shelves of Samuel French.
And knock off the dear woman stuff. I’m a theater professional and I know what I’m talking about.
This was agitprop in the prep school I attended the teachers used to orgasm over it, most were Nasty leftists.
Who presents it, Colleges, Off Broadway, and rather snooty up scale communities.
Who cares what you think. Go back to grade school and lip read though The Hardy Boys.
