This is politics. TRUMP gets no passes either. Neither is Rubio. The calendar dictates when to attack every candidate. Cruz can recover. There are 16 days left.

The unfortunate thing is this little scandal for Cruz was self inflicted. Cruz should have struck back at TRUMP with more precision and should have aimed at and singled out only TRUMP, and TRUMP alone, to issue his counter attack, rather than degrading a region of the country that the whole world embraced for what they endured and how heroically they behaved.

TRUMP simply capitalized on an opportunity.

I’ve lived in the Atlanta area most of my life and wouldn’t be offended at all for someone to point out that Atlanta is a liberal cesspool and has been for decades.

Granted, it’s maybe not as bad as NY City and Chicago, but not because the leftists haven’t tried their best to get it there.

“His wife works for Goldman Sachs”

No, she doesn’t. She resigned.

Actually, she took a LEAVE OF ABSENCE, reportedly.

I think Cruz's "apology" is very clever and it's a shame he didn't use part of that during the debate - it would have resonated.

Cruz made a tactical error going after Trump. We have seen that the Trump counterattack is always 10x worse. Now Trump is turning on the afterburners because he's in this to win. It will likely get nastier over the next few weeks and Trump is going to have the advantage because not only does he have the larger audience but he is utterly relentless and driven. Cruz is smart but he is no match for Trump.

I like both Trump and Cruz and hoping that they can still make a good team after the dust of the campaign season settles.

Absolutely. I want these guys to go after each other hammer and tong. I want them to be tough. Aggressive. I want ALL the issues out on the table and fully vetted.

Because what we've seen so far is nothing compared to what the Clinton slime machine will bring.

If Cruz can't withstand the barrage from Trump, he'll melt once Hillary gets wound up.

People act as though running for the Presidency should be like afternoon tea with the queen.

Likewise, I think Cruz should go after Trump. So far, he hasn't been effective, but at least he's giving it a go.

“You really don’t get it, do you?”

Yeah, I get it; he was being a smart-ass. Those people can wrap those apologies around a quarter and throw it away and then will be able to say they lost a quarter.

I’ll not argue semantics. ;-)

There is an important distinction that should be made: New York didn’t elect DeBlasio, New York City did.

As I say, ad nauseum, TRUMP is hard to nail, because he unabashedly pleads, “GUILTY, AS CHARGED”! Then he reasons with us on why he did this or that, and explains how and when and why he changed, on this or that.

His honesty is compelling. NO OTHER CANDIDATE has that quality. TRUMP is winning on it.

I don’t think, in my life time, I have ever seen such a candidate so willing to plead GUILTY to everything.

People appreciate honesty and authenticity because it is so rare! It also solidifies trust.

The longer Ted Cruz can keep the ‘’New York values’’ brouhaha in the news, the better for his campaign.

Americans aren’t just angry at Washington, they’re angry at the entire Washington/New York axis of corruption and evil.

Washington forces citizens to pay trillions of dollars in taxes, which it then pours into Wall Street banks, which allows New York City to thrive even though it has the same destructive economic policies and enormous public-service-union problems as bankrupt Detroit.

Without trillions of taxpayer dollars, New York City bankers and other malefactors of great wealth would not be able to afford condos in Donald Trump’s towers, and he would have gone bankrupt by now.

The numbers do not support this statement. Since the debate, there has been a 6 point swing for Trump (Trump +4, Cruz -2).

This is a debate that I thought Cruz had won except for the New York thing.

It is marginally hurting his own numbers, but more importantly, bringing more voters to Trump.

Those who were Cruz supporters are mostly sticking with him, but a greater number of other voters are moving to Trump.

This was a bad move by Cruz. He opened the door for Trump to go on offense, and he's done it.

Whether Cruz can withstand the heat, we'll see. I'm not impressed so far, but we'll see.

I work in NYC. Nobody was offended. The Trump/Hillary coalition pretended to be offended, with the Daily News cheering them on, they ran into the streets screaming like Belushi ranting about the Nazis and Pearl Harbor. Nobody followed.

This was such a nancyboy attempt by Trump to crown NYers with the liberal victim mantle sissy liberals cherish so much. But really, nobody cared. Every single person in America knows that the dominant values of NYC differ very significantly from the dominant values of the heartland.

Who in America did not know that? Trump has often spoke about his liberal values and credits his NYC upbring for imbuing him with these values. When he was a Democrat, he bragged about it. Now that he's pretending to be a Republican, he's pretending that such a concept is insulting. I suspect he'll cry soon, he's so hurt.

One does not grow with out conflict. Muscles need to flex to keep strong and support one’s growth, as does the mind. One can’t be all that with out knowing that being all that includes being not much in the eyes of others. (lol)

It’s astounding. Trashing NYers makes zero sense, and the attacks are unprovoked. Worse yet, the message people across the country are getting is that Cruz’s campaign is about regional “values” and that they don’t speak for all 50 states. He’s turned his appeal into that of a Sanatorium or Huckabee overnight, while he had national appeal before this. Arguing over “NY values” is not something that moves the needle. He was doing much better when he stuck to policy.

Ummm. You and I see Ted’s remarks very differently. He criticized NY political leadership, not NYers. Did u read his words? I work in NY state often, and listen in at diners. NYC and NY state people are strongly at odds.
