As an ESL teacher let me tell you the narratives from these refugees as to why they’re here. For example, “a drunk American militry guy killed my parents (in Pakistan) so i had to come and live here.” or “My brother was shot on a basketball court by an American in Michigan”....they tell storeis of abuse at the hands of Americans. Why they stay here, I’ll never know.
