And, of course, he is for Renewable Fuel Standard (ethanol mandate), so governement can pick winners and losers.
Trump's Record on Free-market Issue: (from the Conservative Review)
Trump has a terrible record on free market issues. The only bright spot is the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing, but this glimmer is countermanded by his repeated support for bailing out Wall Street and the auto industry, and increased stimulus spending. Of particular concern is Trump's belief that the government can use eminent domain powers to seize private property in the name of private economic development. This comes as no surprise, given his support for using eminent domain to profit his own company.
Trump supported the Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in Kelo v. City of London, allowing public authorities to seize private land for economic development by private investors; Trump said, “I happen to agree with [the decision] 100 percent.” (National Review) This is no surprise given Trump’s attempt to use eminent domain in his own line of work. (Institute for Justice)
Trump supported President Obama’s 2009 stimulus, saying: “The word stimulus is probably not used in its fullest…you know, certain of the things that were given weren't really stimulus. They were pork, as we call it, or they were gifts to certain people. But overall, I think he's [President Obama] doing very well. You do need stimulus and you do have to keep the banks alive.” (CNN)
Trump supported TARP, saying, "You had to do something to shore up the banks, because ... you would have had a run on every bank." (CNN)
Trump supported the 2008 auto bailout, saying, “I think the government should stand behind them 100 percent. You cannot lose the auto companies. They’re great. They make wonderful products.” He also said that the federal government could “easily save the companies.” (Daily Caller)
Trump criticized the Federal Reserve’s intervention in the debt market, saying quantitative easing creates “phony numbers” that mislead the marketplace and “will not ultimately benefit the economy. The dollar will go down in value and inflation will start rearing its ugly head.” (CNBC)
Donald Trump has a history of using eminent domain to complete business deals. Multiple times Trump has supported the use of government agencies to take possession of homes and businesses for use in his private business plans. Eminent domain seizures are reserved only for public use of property rather than abuse by the government taking property from one individual and giving to another. (Washington Post)
Donald Trump has sought and received crony capitalist tax breaks for his commercial properties in New York. These tax breaks, and even an abatement, force the property taxes of other property owners to rise at the expense of the connected. Special treatment for one business or industry over another with the tax code conflicts with free market principles. (National Review)
In 2009, Trump supported Barack Obama's call for limits on the pay of executives. (CNN)
Ya know what has been chapping my ***?
I have literally lost my voice and people respond to carnival barkers they can’t even hear me
I swear on the bible I see it every day
Ted will FIGHT for the constitution and will take a black eye for it, re enter the ring and go again
Go Ted Go
I have your back!
That’s obvious all over skylines of the world, the skating rink in NYC, the surprise generosity of saving a family farm, paying off the mortgage of someone who helped him when he had car trouble, flying a sick kid across country when the airlines would not, stopping someone from beating a homeless man with a baseball bat. Didn’t he help Sgt Tamorisi who was stuck in that Mexican jail?
Politics is not his career...every word, every move has not been calculated for most of his life to achieve that one goal. The calculated actions involved in playing the political game are very disturbing to me.
Life is a dance but who’s gonna take you home?
Ted aint promising me any of that.
“i would sleep in the woods in a hollow log before I would stay with you and let you treat me like a dog”
FREEDOM!!!
Huh?
I’ve been in business all my life. I look at the resumes of those running and IMO Trump is the one to hire. They can say anything...what they’ve done is what matters.
I voted 3 times to get Ted here. I voted for the Donald Zero time because he was a no run.
So who is this guy Donald Trump?
I understand he is a cut nuts business guy.
So is Obama
Obama whose only real job was in a Baskin and Robbins???
No way.
I thought a leader persuades and convinces and then gets things done
Cruz persuaded and convinced judges on numerous Constitutional issues, he persuaded and convinced on matters of free market capitalism at the FTC, he persuaded and convinced the voters of Texas to send him to the Senate, he seems to be persuading and convincing the caucus goers of Iowa...
McConnell, McCain, Reid, Leahy, Schumer and the rest... do you really think they can be persuaded or convinced of anything that remotely resembles conservatism?
If Cruz so often is found standing alone, look at who he is standing against.
Do you rely om monster.com to match up key words LOL
he’s done a job on this country
i hate the SOB but you have to admire his game
Those are all great little viginettes of Trump. Meanwhile, Ted Cruz stood up to the Bush administration and won Medillin v Texas which confirmed the sovereignty of state legal systems. He then went on to win election to the US Senate against the establishment favorite. Once in the Senate he led the fight to defund Obamacare, risking his own political future and forever being labeled the author of a government shutdown. He was one of the leaders of the opposition to the Gang of 8 bill.
Summary. Ted has accomplished: defending the constitution, winning against GOPe, bringing Obamacare funding to the forefront of the national debate, and stopping by amnesty.
Uh, “stopping by amnesty” should read “stopping Rubio amnesty”. Possible my phone autocorrect is a GOPe plant!
I am curious about his accomplishments. He is a lawyer and apparently successful with issues he took on.
Do we want another lawyer for POTUS? A first term Senator at that? I’d rather see him as Attorney General - his experience would make him excellent at this given what he apparently did in Texas...that is if he could be confirmed.
yeah, if I were out to destroy the USA I’d think Obama has done one hell of a job.
He has done all he has set out to do.
A real go getter
****er
So why hate cruz?
I want a hands off gov
I actually think leading the fight to defund Obamacare isn’t something he saw as a risk to his career but a resume enhancer..which he planned to use at a later date which is now. His stance on visas and Obamatrade is a bit shaky. We see so many “positioning” games in D.C. - it’s sickening.
Yes, did a good thing with Medillin v Texas. No question about that.
