Cruz is not winning in the last Iowa poll, and he is behind every conceivable national poll. There is many more state election besides Iowa. There are about 15 state primaries and caucuses elections between February 1st and March 1st. Trump leads in all the other polls in these states.

Well that’s about to change, and his supporters should welcome it because a candidate should not win the nomination without some major tests.

Legitimate challenges to his positions? Fair enough, he's running for president.

Greasy insinuations concerning his family members, intentional mischacterizations of clearly stated positions, never.

You take them both as part of the package. Because Hillary isn’t going to care if you think it’s “intentional characterizations”.

I understand there are many who will stoop to being dishonest, but why should I welcome it?

I've seen you complain about whats said about Trump, it appears you do not "welcome" smears, either.

There is no national primary so you take these races 1 at a time or a block of primaries at a time. The first primaries are proportional and the later ones can be winner take all. Things can change when the primaries get going. Ask Hillary from 2008.

I think he thinks it is the first one. He won Christian conservatives in the state just across the river from me, so he believes they’ll support him if they leave Cruz. Otherwise, like you say, it’s a pointless attack. Paul doesn’t do pointless.

The difference is that Trump can deal with that on his own, and has.

He has been accused of everything from antisemitism to rape. The number of smears that was supposed to bring him down would have killed 18 candidates.

Now can Cruz survive that? Dont know. Doubt it.

Of course not. These national poll show us who is leading overall, and as we drill down to state polls, we still see Cruz is losing in everyone of those 15 states besides maybe Iowa.

Most of what you are referring to aren't "smears", they are attacks on things Trump has said that would've sunk candidate in an early time. He has prevailed and I've loved every minute of it.

But Trump has no voting record to mischaracterize.

But thats different than whats happening to Cruz. Its very clear to those of us who've watched Cruz these past three years know often times critics of his legislative record are either obtuse or, in some cases, they're lying.

There is no more conservative member of the senate, save maybe Session or Lee.

Look, Ted Cruz was personally endorsed by both Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

Hey now, we ALL know that polls don’t mean anything when they don’t say what we wanted them to say.

Oops. We just got a poll out of California that shows Cruz on top. That about 172 delegates and a winner take all primary. This is a chess game. You have to get the ground game going to keep you somewhat competitive in proportional states and winning in winner-take-all states. Cruz is also doing well in Texas. They have a lot of delegates also.

That's how its been done for years here on FreeRepublic. It's a time-honored tradition. It how the Trumpsters approach it too when some poll goes against Donnie.

Was that before or after he healed the sick?

By a tiny 2% poll that polled only 358 Rs in California for a huge state is a tiny sample. And CA is not in the first 15 states that have an election, and Cruz is still losing his home state in most polls to Trump.

358 is a small sample in California but the 644 Reuters uses for their national poll has you guys ecstatic.
