Some drugs are already legalized with legal alcohol being the biggest killer of them all by far.

Nah, pot usually causes people to drive more slowly.

“Think the drug legalization people will keep a low profile on this one.”

I will put my money on her using Xanax and Xanax is already legal as long as it is prescribed.

Don’t be surprised if Ambien is not one of her medicines. It is both a sedative and a hypnotic. Capable of effecting different people in very different ways.

Pot wouldn’t make you do something like this

Sorry, but that's baloney. Marijuana is much stronger and more unpredictable now than it was 15-20 years ago. THC levels in many edibles exceed 80%. That is tripping material. Out of control on any drug is out of control. The weed apologists will of course, disagree.

Was she a member of the NCA National Car Association whose members believe in the right to own cars of mass destruction.

I think it is time to restrict cars that travel more then 20 MPH.

To protect the children!

Pot wouldn’t make you do something like this. You don’t get disconnected like that on pot.
Some psychotropic drug might. LSD at the wrong stage might, but only if it was your first time.

How do you tell the difference between a drunk driver and someone who's high on pot?

A drunk driver will blow straight past a stop sign. A high driver will wait for the stop sign to turn green!

Maybe she thought her foot was on the brake. :/

They might not be able to find any significant drugs, either. Ibuprofen isn’t going to cut it.

There’s some rumors of new strains of synthetic pot they say is many times more potent than the tame stuff out there in the past.

Because no drug is mentioned my guess is pot.

Your desire is that it be pot.

It's not.

It's not a strawberry sundae, either. Guaranteed.

“...prescription-type drugs would not surprise me...”

If the “prescription-type drugs” in fact had been prescribed to the driver herself, and if the driver took exactly the dosage she was supposed to, then I, too, would not be surprised if “prescription-type drugs” were involved. What I doubt is that this driver has been taking a daily normal dosage of, say, Prozac.

Don’t be surprised if Ambien is not one of her medicines.

My first thought. Better fit with time of day and her otherwise clean record.

She may have been on one the “synthetic cannabis” concoctions, Spice or K2, that are out there. But those are as similar to weed as heroin is similar to a cough drop. They are lab mixed chemicals that supposedly mimic marijuana by stimulating the same brain receptors. But they are not at all the same as “pot”. In fact they’ve been concocted and marketed to fool people into thinking they’re a legal form of marijuana. Very dangerous stuff reportedly inducing heart arrhythmia, extreme hypertension, hallucinations, and at least one reported death by overdose.

I doubt she will escape responsibility, this will haunt her for the rest of her life. She sure must have taken a lot of drugs to have this affect. 1 Benadryl will put me to sleep.

“Don’t be surprised if Ambien is not one of her medicines.”

Yes, Ambien is bad and can lead to sleepwalking type behavior.
