His car should have been similar to this 1939 Cadillac Model 75

yeah....I’ve unfortunately witnessed two other people die in this same way. (broken neck) and both were in the back seat and no belts.

Patton also was not a big man, so his upper body likely had way more mass and thus the headlong dive into the metal supports that are located just behind the front seat.

These cars were designed to accommodate maps and charts for two to three people to go over while driving. As I said the back seat area was huge,,,

if you look closely through the windshield, you can see the supports, but I think in this case they may be leather wrapped IIRC..

The suicide doors give you the size of the floor between the back seat and the front. the seating area is way back along the back window.

Cruz was pretty good on immigration, but Trump has stated the better case.

Without Trump, this would not be a national conversation.

Cruz thanked Trump for bringing all these things up since he announced his run, I would think his supporters could be as magnanimous as he is.

Without Trump, this would not be a national conversation.

I don't have any disagreement with that point. The media in it's attempts to attack Trump, who does not depend on endorsements or donations, failed, and that gave him credibility and support by many.

But my issues with Trump have nothing to do with immigration. He is a dyed in the wool Nor'easter. As such he is more od a bluedog dem then a republican or in his case he can go either way, and he's not the kind of conservative that Cruz is or that I am.

I also have issues, since Ross Perot, or even Teddy Roosevelt, regarding outsider's lack of a track record that points to what their true political compass says. I could add Barry Obama to that list as his political path was arranged like a musical.

Trump is a great businessman. His businesses put him at odds with government at every level on any day, and he know what ticks people off and what to say. His campaign engineers his policies and none of it has a past except for his personality.

I can't support a personality.

I met George W Bush. I shook his hand when he was campaigning for his Father in 1992. I looked down at his shoes. Tasseled loafers. My first thought was "Yuppie Larva."

Spoiled Rich kid born into wealth.

I think my initial assessment of him was spot on.

I have some reservations about him, in some areas we're not going to get conservative governance, in some we will. I'm not all that comfortable with that.

On the other hand, there are a list of positives for him, and the list is strong enough for me to support him if he wins. On immigration, he rocks, and quite frankly I believe that's numero uno issue. I think he'll be good for the country's psyche, and good with the economy/jobs thing.

We have some time to look, I'm glad for that.

I do remember back the postings here (not by you) about what a great tactician Rove was. “Rove you magnificent bastard” etc. One user had his handle as Perfect Rovian Storm and so forth.

Rove’s time has come and gone. This is not 2000/2004 where the squishy middle is where the election was won. These days the base is what is going to win elections this time out and Rove is still working the non-existant middle.

Rove is not a genius. Rove is not smart. Bush won in spite of him, not because of him.

Rove's advice has always been bad.

yeah we still have time....I will be supporting Cruz in the primary. I have not decided what to do should Trump win the nomination.

It’s probably more a factor of my age and numerous disappointments..

The one issue that I would not have with Trump is voting for the GOP preferred candidate...:-0

Trying to read why Trump is yellow on 2nd Amendment. Do you know?
here is the profile one negative on the flexibility issue
n the past Trump has payed lip service to the Second Amendment. More troubling is that he supported the so-called assault weapons ban and a longer waiting period for gun purchases. However, during the 2015 campaign, Trump has made a major shift on Second Amendment issues. He released a policy paper on the Second Amendment which promises major reforms that gun rights activists have long wanted. Examples include support for national reciprocity for concealed carry permits, the end of weapons and magazine bans, and curtailing of the expansion of a failing background check system. Time will tell if the 180 about face is principled driven or merely political in nature.

Trump has a New York State gun license and owns two pistols. (Washington Times)
Trump believes that the Democrats’ approach to confiscate all guns will leave criminals as the only ones with weapons, but believes Republicans need to be more flexible on reforms. “Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within seventy-two hours if a potential gun owner has a record.” (The America We Deserve)
Trump has used pro-Second Amendment rhetoric, saying, “It is so important that we maintain the Second Amendment and that we maintain it strongly. And one of the main reasons is because the good people, the upstanding people, follow laws and norms but the bad ones don’t. So if the Second Amendment weren’t there to protect our rights and someone tampered with them, the good people would be affected but the bad people wouldn’t care–they couldn’t care less. It is absolutely imperative that we maintain the Second Amendment in its strongest form.” (Breitbart)
In the wake of the cold blooded murder of two journalists, by a mentally ill man in Virginia, Donald Trump resisted calls for more gun control. Trump said, “Well I don’t think I would[restrict gun sales to ‘sane people’], because this is really a sick person. This isn’t a gun problem. This is a mental problem.” (Politico)
Trump’s “Second Amendment Rights Plan” calls for nationwide reciprocity on concealed carry, the end of weapons and magazine bans, restoring the rights of military members to carry on base, and a moratorium on the expansion of background checks. These are all policies that conservatives, and those concerned with the erosion of the Second Amendment rights support. (Donald Trump Website)

I've been a Cruz guy, have come to terms (so far) with the likelihood of a Trump win, and quite frankly it's now his to lose.

If he does win, Ill be enthusiastically (with my fingers crossed behind my back about a few issues other than immigration and the economy) supporting him.

I won't be that way if Rubio somehow vaults into the winning circle.

Other than Rubio’s past support for the big immigration reform proposals, same one bush tried to pass, I don’t really have any problems with him.

To Rubio’s credit he did admit that he did not really understand the opposition to the reforms. He then changed it to seal the border first.

Personally, it could be that Rubio was under the spell of the DC moderates...He probably saw immigration opposition as purely anti Hispanic or racial bias because that is what the GOP thinks.

Of all the other candidates, I could vote for him if I had to..
But that’s about it....now that walker has left the party.

It will be interesting to see how trump does as we get into the thick of it.

I see Rubio on the same plain as Jeb, and the other progressives with an (R) behind their name. To me he's totally unacceptable.

Gullible and naive: Joining the gang of eight was stupid beyond belief.

Lying: I heard his spiel on Limbaugh's show live, he lied to all of us about that deal.

Being starry eyed as you fawn over Chuck Schumer is as strange as watching Newt on the couch with Pelosi on Global warming theory.

He's NOT going to get my vote this time, that's for sure. A decade down the road, with some steel in his spine, and a good record might change that, just not now.

That’s pretty much along the same lines as I was thinking, because I don’t see where he has a chance in this election.

But he is a impassioned speaker and could do well if he cleans up his act. As Levin is fond of saying, they are all corporatists. They walk to a different drummer and it could be too late for him, or maybe not.

I expect the GOP to shift support to him if bush bombs out which is likely. But like trump, I would have to do some soul searching...might not even show up....who knows at this point..

Many times in the past I have not made up my mind until I am on my way to the polls. I suppose that for me, it’s not all about immigration this time..It’s not that immigration is not high on my list, but I consider a Constitutional originalist as being just as important or more so.

Cruz, Walker, and Rubio seemed to fit that need in that order...I had trump as 4th or iffy on the constitution.
