The National Enquirer knew about the affair months and months ago. This has been going on for at least four years. It was already public knowledge.
I thought McCarthy was extremely cheery about his announcement. Oddly so, actually. He was striding confidently down the hallway with a great big smile, and he opened his remarks at his presser with a toothy smile and a joking manner, “Did I surprise ya’ a little?”.
This, after coming in to the capital building a couple of hours earlier, at 8 AM (EST), ready to rumble and win.
WTH happened in two hours. McCarthy had to already know about the letter calling for a vetting, but still at 8 AM he was ready to win the Speakership. Two hours or so later he quits the deal!
After all, the letter from the guy in NC had already been released the evening before, (last night we knew about it) asking for a full vetting of all the candidates in order to avoid another fiasco like Livingston, whom the media vetted and exposed for his affair, within a month of his placement in the Speaker’s chair when Newt resigned. Similar circumstances of a resignation forcing an emergency vote.
I want to know why McCarthy looked like a cat who just swallowed the canary, but was seen smiling like he had won it.
I’m sad to see Ryan jump in. Yet another RINO. Even worse that the freedom caucus would support him.
This is typical Republicans - they pretend to do the right thing - ‘right’, literally BTW - then cave, leaving us angry and frustrated. Any wonder Trump is winning?
Well .. we need to remember that the only way Obama won several of his elections was because he was able to dig up dirt on the other guy.
Why Obama wouldn’t want McCarthy (who totally supported Boehner) is beyond me.
The current people appearing to run for the office of Speaker are much more likely to be Conservative or generally leaning in that direction.
Ok, even I know enough to use HideMyA**.com when I don’t want my IP to show up. Hard to believe Homeland Security doesn’t cloak their IP.
But is an affair really blackmail material? After Bill Clinton, an affair seems so not blackmail-ish. Surely there is something else going on here.
Two sides of the same coin. Depending on the individual, pick the one with the greater upside.
Cruz is a charlatan. He’s a loser. Rubio will take it all.
Good point.
The libs would have been perfectly happy with McCarthy. Remember, the libs loved boner. It’s those pesky conservative tea party types that every one hates.
The GOPe propaganda machine wants me to have a fit over Obama’s crew being involved. If they were, shame on them.
But McCarthy and the woman involved also bear responsibility for their actions that put them in the place where this could be said about them.
According to some of his California district folks who are TOTALLY FED UP WITH HIM, it is possible that he has a anchor in his political closet.
“IP address, 216.81.81.85, made them on Thursday.
That address comes from DHS offices in Springfield, Virginia, he reported.”
Yup.
I expect government computers are pretty secure with records of access and logs of usage. Shouldn’t be too hard to find the culprit.
Someone in DHS doesn’t know to cloak their IP?
