Yes, Quigley makes no bones about his contempt for the common man, and he really goes off on that tangent in the latter pages of Tragedy and Hope. This was probably what made his work so appealing to certain Georgetown U grads like Bill Clinton. But I strongly suspect that the bulk of Quigley's work was lost on such.

The extraordinary thing about the stampede and slaughter at this yeast's Hajj is that is was simply a repeat of what happens every there or four years, or so. Although a crowd of one or two million people is definitely a huge crowd, most other countries are able to manage them without significant bloodshed.

Indeed, for example, the Tea Party put about 1,780,000 people into Washington, DC, on 9/12/2009, a crowd so huge that the Metro was temporarily shut down and the traffic was so bad that many of the busses coming to the event were unable to make it. Nevertheless, there was no stampede and there were few, if any, deaths or serious injuries related to the crowd's size. Indeed, we even left the venue cleaner when we departed than it was before we arrived.

The Saudi government has had many opportunities to develop effective crowd control for the Hajj, but these horrors keep on happening, even though they seldom happen in other countries. These repeated horrors therefore lead to a strong suspicion that the great mass of Muslims is mentally deficient due to extensive inbreeding, causing them, especially when in large crowds, to lack the self-restraint most civilized people have and to go collectively wild, like like a tribe of insane chimps, with the predicted, repeated mass self-massacres seen at the Hajj year after year.

During my world travels, I accumulated an extensive collection of ancient stone spear points and arrowheads, and I noticed right away there was more than an accidental similarity between some of the points I picked up in the Andes Mountains of Peru and Bolivia and those from Afghanistan and Pakistan. Some of them are so identical it's near impossible to tell them apart.

However, as some of my learned friends have pointed out, there are only so many things one can do with a stone, and it's entirely possible that two different civilizations a world apart could have used duplicate stone working techniques.

In a society where the husband may legally whip/beat/abuse his wife, selling your daughter to a known quantity makes sense.

Agreed. There is a very similar mentality in play with Prof. Jared Diamond who authored, among other works, the epic anthropological book Collapse. It is a study of civilizations which collapsed and those which avoided collapse. Diamond makes some valuable and interesting observations based on these historical studies. But his favorite two model societies are the New Guinea highlands and the isolated island of Tikopia who are successful in his eyes primarily because they are so isolated that nobody bothered them.

What you said plus I don't discount the possibility of long transoceanic voyages in ancient times, Kon Tiki and all of that. They may not have known where they were going, but they were running away from something or just exploring.

I believe exploration is built in to the human DNA.

We see this already in the way that non-Muslim men are regularly excluded for public swimming halls, our secular societies are pressured to invest in separate bathing facilities in sports places, public authorities' advises for women to not wear sexy clothes close to refugee centers etc.
