But this IS a change.
In Latin American terms its a huge step, because Presidents succeeding themselves has been a political taboo for a hundred years. Across the continent in the 19th century this was a vehicle for dictatorships, such as that of Porfirio Diaz in Mexico. This was a cause of all sorts of civil wars, coups, military juntas, etc. So pretty much everyone adopted a single term system.

That was kind of my point. They’re falling back on old ways. Bolivia had a three term “president” as recently as 2003, so I don’t think we have to look all the way back to the 19th century either.

Collectivist culture. It always brings poverty and failure, but they can’t seem to get enough of it down there. I think the equation is: Latin American culture + Catholicism = mass poverty + the subjugated individual. Coming to a country near you, courtesy of illegal immigration and the Democrat election fraud machine.
